Always, we are guided by a single purpose: As we drive towards curing type 1 diabetes, we help make everyday life better for the people who face it.</p> <p>Project Summary</p> <p>Breakthrough T1D is a global research and patient advocacy organization dedicated to accelerating breakthroughs to cure, treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications. Through its Industry Discovery & Development Partnership (IDDP) Program, Breakthrough T1D supports for-profit companies whose research aligns with its strategic priorities, with the goal of accelerating the development and commercialization of therapeutics and devices while fostering long-term collaborations with industry partners and the T1D community.</p> <p>In support of this program, the intern will analyze historical IDDP grant recipients to understand the trajectories of funded companies following their awards. This includes researching company outcomes (such as acquisitions), leadership movement, and progress in product development. The intern's work will strengthen organizational record-keeping, help identify potential future partnership opportunities, and support knowledge management efforts aimed at building stronger long-term relationships with past grantees.</p> <p>Expected Learnings</p> <ul> <li>Gain exposure to how a global nonprofit partners with industry to advance therapeutic and device development in healthcare. </li><li>Develop skills in secondary research, data synthesis, and qualitative analysis across biotech and life sciences companies. </li><li>Learn how to track company trajectories (e.g., acquisitions, leadership movement, product development stages) and translate findings into actionable insights. </li><li>Build experience organizing historical data and improving institutional knowledge management. </li><li>Develop an understanding of partnership strategy, the start-up ecosystem, and post-award engagement in a real-world funding environment. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Experience</p> <ul> <li>Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a graduate degree in life sciences, public health, business, and/or a related field. </li><li>Experience in conducting desk research, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources. </li><li>Excellent organizational and communication skills, detail-oriented </li><li>Comfortable working independently on open-ended projects </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Monday board, and/or grant management systems </li><li>Interest in healthcare, biotechnology, start-ups, business development/partnerships, and/or philanthropy preferred </li></ul> <p>Hourly Pay: $18/hour</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
