Reviews all construction documents for compliance with applicable laws regulating the installation and operation of fire alarm systems. Conducts plan reviews of all laboratory remodeling for appropriate applications of building, fire and life safety code standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Perform the required number of annual fire inspections on campus, off campus, UHealth, and other occupancies as required by our Fire Prevention Program obligations.</p> </li><li> <p>Continue to support the University of Utah Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) mission across all University properties - including on-campus, off-campus, and UHealth facilities - as directed by the University Fire Marshal.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform responsibilities listed in the position description as they relate to Fire Prevention.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize available software like ImageTrend (or approved alternate) to plan, deliver and record activities associated with the Fire Prevention Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Support EHS department tasks and objectives.</p> </li></ol> <p>Good communication, people management and organizational skills</p> <p>See also HR's preset position description for Position 2411.</p> <p>Qualifications defined in the preset job description may be altered by refinement in the employees offer letter and Annual UUPM Plans.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education); two years experience in a private firm or public plan review agency; and a strong background in fire alarm system design, testing, repair, and installation required. Knowledge of the International Construction Code (ICC), International Fire Code (IFC), NFPA and State Fire Prevention Board Rules and Regulations; demonstrated communications skills; the ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks and make decisions related to building code interpretations; and the ability to adapt to quickly changing design parameters and short deadlines also required.</p> <p>Preferences Type Benefited Staff Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
