<p>GJB-311324 12/25: THIS POSITION IS NON-CLASSIFIED</p> <p>ACC Careers: Where You Can Move Mountains</p> <p>Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains sits one of the oldest community colleges in Colorado, Arapahoe Community College. With a rich history of educational excellence, ACC embraces a culture that values diversity, individualized support, and unwavering commitment to student success, without exception.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Early Childhood Education and Education Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty role within the Education Department. Faculty members are responsible for teaching 15 credit hours each fall and spring semester. Opportunities to teach during the summer semester may be available for additional compensation.</p> <p>Instruction may be delivered through a variety of traditional and non-traditional methods, including face-to-face, online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, and interdisciplinary formats. While the primary teaching location is the Littleton Campus, faculty may be assigned to teach at any of ACC's campuses, including Littleton, Castle Rock, and Legacy, and must be available to teach during various times, including days, evenings, and some weekends.</p> <p>This faculty member will support both Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Education (EDU) programs. Responsibilities include collaboration with ACC's campus-based Child Development Center to ensure curricular and instructional alignment, as well as contributing to the implementation of grants that support both ECE and EDU program development and sustainability.</p> <p>Faculty members serving as department chairs have duties beyond teaching that may include program coordination/development (leadership, supervision, management, coordination, budget control, conflict resolution, and problem solving), student advising and curriculum development. As a learning college Arapahoe Community College recognizes that these positions are organic and must adapt to the needs of the program/department being served. Therefore, specific duties and responsibilities associated with this role are listed below.</p> <p> </p> <p> Department Chair responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising students; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; supervision of full-time faculty and part-time instructors; serving on institution-wide committees and statewide task forces; student recruitment; sponsorship of student activities; job placement and community outreach services; selecting textbooks; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions; participating in professional organizations which enhance the educational mission of the college; and developing innovative approaches to learning. </p> <p> </p> <p>Additionally, the Department Chair will provide leadership and management for ACC's Education academic programs and the Child Development Center. The Education Department Chair will be responsible for the vision, mission, and operations of the Child Development Center (CDC), and serves as the Center Director. The individual will lead teachers and faculty toward integration, alignment, and implementation of best practices and curriculum between the Child Development Center and our Education programs.</p> <p> The Faculty Department Chair along with the Dean provides leadership for quality instruction at all ACC locations. The Department Chair works closely with their respective Dean, other administrative leaders on campus, ACC faculty & subject matter experts, and colleagues in Student Affairs to provide consistency in instruction and outcomes for the college.</p> <p> </p> <p>The Department Chair role is in addition to duties outlined in the faculty position description. The Department Chair addendum is a 12-month appointment requiring 223 working days and 26 non-working days per year. Department Chairs will teach at least one 3-credit course per year as part of base compensation. They may teach up to one additional course (3-5 adjusted credits) each semester as overload. These positions are expected to begin August 2026.</p> <p>All applications must be submitted through our website.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related subfield or master's degree plus 18 graduate credit hours in Early Childhood Education or related subfield.</p> </li><li> <p>Tested experience may be used in lieu of the degree requirement on a case-by-case basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 2000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching and/or training various subjects within the discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated commitment to supporting and empowering students from historically underrepresented communities, including but not limited to students of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, military veterans, first-generation college students, and people with disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively in a form that is appropriate for the needs of the audience.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies. </li><li>Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies. </li><li>Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees, and/or taskforces. </li><li>Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats. </li><li>Ability to develop well-defined assessment and evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements for the Department Chair</p> <ul> <li>Currently have or be able to obtain a large center director qualification letter issued by the Colorado Office of Early Childhood. </li><li>Three years of experience as an director of an evidence-based high-quality early childhood program to include hiring, training, and compliance with regulations governing childcare center licensing. </li><li>Two years experience with program assessment and reports. </li><li>Department or program oversight in a postsecondary setting, preferably with experience in a lab school or campus-based child care center, and familiarity with general education and career and technical education programs. </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>All applications must be submitted through our website.</p> <p>All applicants must submit:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Detailed letter of interest (cover letter) addressing the job announcement. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August to May). This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. AP 3-55 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments.</p> <p> </p> <p> The anticipated compensation range for the faculty department chair is calculated using the 2025-2026 hiring range. The additional compensation for this role is $22,643 - $28,857. Faculty department chair compensation is calculated using the actual base salary of the faculty member who holds the role. Salary will be prorated for the number of contract days worked.</p> <p> </p> <p>Physical and Cognitive Demands</p> <p> Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, and a child care facility.
