This internship provides an opportunity for currently enrolled college or university students to gain hands-on experience in a professional public health environment.</p> <p>Public health is the science and practice of protecting and improving the health of people and communities through education, policy, research, prevention, and access to care. It focuses on promoting wellness, preventing disease, and ensuring conditions that support the health of all individuals.</p> <p>Interns will be placed in one primary area of public health based on their interests, academic background, and the needs of the department. While assigned to a specific program, interns will also have opportunities to learn about the broader public health system through cross-program collaboration, staff meetings, and exposure to various department initiatives.</p> <p>Potential placement areas may include (subject to availability each semester):</p> <ul> <li> <p>Epidemiology - Data analysis, disease surveillance, and outbreak investigation support</p> </li><li> <p>Health Promotion - Public health campaigns, wellness initiatives, and community outreach</p> </li><li> <p>Lifespan Health Services - Programs focused on maternal and child health, aging services, and health equity</p> </li><li> <p>Organizational Advancement - Strategic planning, internal process evaluation, and policy development</p> </li><li> <p>Health Data and Statistics - Data collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Occupational Licensure - Support with licensure application processing, compliance, and stakeholder communication</p> </li><li> <p>Health Services and Systems - Evaluation and improvement of public health programs and service delivery</p> </li></ul> <p>Location:</p> <ul> <li>Internships are onsite at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, NE. </li></ul> <p>Eligibility Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college or university program.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication skills, adaptability, and an interest in public service are essential.</p> </li></ul> <p>Application Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Application Deadline: October 31</p> </li><li> <p>Application Review Begins: November 1</p> </li></ul> <p>This internship offers valuable experience for students preparing for careers in public health, healthcare administration, policy, or related fields.
