<p>About American International College:</p> <p>American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 88+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. We are an EEO employer and we welcome applications from individuals for positions where they are underrepresented.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The School of Business, Arts, and Sciences is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to join our faculty as a full-time Biology Instructor. This position supports the Biology major and Health Science programs. While all applicants will be considered, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in:</p> <ul> <li>Microbiology </li><li>Molecular Biology </li><li>Cell Biology </li><li>Genetics </li></ul> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach 30 credit hours per academic year (typically 15 per semester) as assigned by the Dean. </li><li>Maintain a minimum of four scheduled office hours per week. </li><li>Participate in the development and continuous improvement of course curricula and student learning assessments. </li><li>Engage in professional development aligned with teaching and academic responsibilities. </li><li>Support student recruitment, retention, and mentorship. </li><li>Guide student research projects and scholarly activities. </li><li>Advise student clubs and organizations. </li><li>Serve on faculty committees and participate in institutional events and meetings. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Biology or a closely related field (Ph.D. preferred). </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarship. </li><li>Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students of varied learning styles and backgrounds. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas (or similar LMS), and instructional technology for traditional, hybrid, or online teaching. </li><li>Ability to work collegially and professionally as part of a team. </li><li>Expertise that complements and expands the department's current strengths. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Specialization in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics. </li><li>Experience in curriculum development and innovative teaching strategies. </li><li>A record of student mentorship and engagement in scholarly activities. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>AIC reserves the right to fill this position at a level above or below the level included in this posting.</p> <p>AIC is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Qualified applicants should save and submit the following documents with the online application.</p> <ul> <li>Brief cover letter </li><li>Current resume </li><li>Contact information for three professional references (one of which must be a current or prior supervisor) </li></ul> <p>Review of applications will continue until the position has been filled.</p>
