<p>SAFETY/SECURITY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION & JOB OBJECTIVE</p> <p>This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform a variety of skilled maintenance and minor repair services on a routine preventive and corrective basis for City vehicles and light equipment.</p> <p>Job Objective and Essential Job Functions</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Provides assistance in the diagnosis and repair of City vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Repairs and provides assistance in repairs of defective vehicle and equipment components, including lighting systems, brake systems, audio equipment and other malfunctioning components. </li><li>Completes work order for each vehicle and unit serviced, listing items replaced and materials used; notifies supervisor of repair and replacement requirements. </li><li>Performs oil changes, lubrications and maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Performs vehicle and parts pickup and delivery functions. </li><li>Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements</p> <p>These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a high school or vocational-technical school course in automotive mechanics and one (1) year of experience as an automotive mechanic or mechanic assistant. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. </li><li>Must possess the tools required for this position by the Department of Fleet Services within 6 months of employment and maintain required tools in working condition for the duration of employment in this position. </li></ul> <p>DISCLAIMER: This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise.</p> <p>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>None. </p> <p>SECONDARY DUTIES</p> <p>Secondary Duties</p> <ul> <li>Orders repair parts and materials required for shop repairs from the Fleet Department Parts Storeroom. </li><li>Provides assistance with brake replacements, suspension assemblies and front and rear wheel alignment procedures. </li><li>Sharpens, repairs, and replaces cutting edges on mowing and cutting machinery. </li><li>Prepares new vehicles and equipment for service by installing decals, wiring ancillary equipment, and mounting add-on equipment. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the operation and maintenance principles of vehicles and/or machinery. </li><li>Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions of automotive and related equipment. </li><li>Skill in the care and use of hand and power tools. </li><li>Skill in the use of diagnostic and mechanical adjustment equipment. </li><li>Skill in the operation of automatic transmission automobiles. </li><li>Ability to assist in the diagnosis of vehicle malfunctions. </li><li>Ability to keep accurate records and complete work orders. </li><li>Ability to read and write. </li><li>Ability to operate various types of light vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Ability to withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. </li><li>Ability to note defects, damage, and wear in vehicle systems and automotive/equipment components. </li><li>Ability to follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Ability to lift, push, pull or carry forty (40) pounds or more in the performance of essential job functions. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - REPRESENTATIVE OF THOSE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB</p> <p>Pre-Employment Screenings Required Before Employment</p> <p> Background Check, Motor Vehicle Report Check, non uniform medical and drug alcohol</p>
