<p>Title: Maintenance Mechanic</p> <p>Employee Classification: Support Staff</p> <p>Institution: Northeast State Community College</p> <p>Department: Plant Operations and Maintenance</p> <p>Campus Location: Kingsport (after training and orientation in Blountville)</p> <p>Salary: $39,760-$43,751 dependent on education and experience</p> <p>Please use the Total Compensation Calculator found on the Northeast State Careers Page for a breakdown of the value of the benefits offered to employees of the college.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Plant Operations, the Maintenance Mechanic completes preventative maintenance tasks and necessary repairs, installs and replaces equipment, and assists other Plant Operations and Maintenance staff as needed. Assigned tasks include but are not limited to: carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing. Assigned to Kingsport campus after training and orientation in Blountville.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Learn all phases of physical plant operations </li><li>Carry out a program of preventative maintenance </li><li>Repair buildings and install equipment </li><li>Assist with inventory, supplies, and receiving </li><li>Assist with construction or modification of physical facilities when work is performed in-house </li><li>Follow a set plan of computer-generated Preventative Maintenance work order program </li><li>Assist other Plant Operations employees in their job functions </li><li>Coordinate repairs to leased facilities with the City of Kingsport and other outside authorities </li><li>Complete other assignments as directed by supervision. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field from an accredited institution </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma and two years of relevant experience </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Facilities maintenance experience on a higher education campus </li><li>Experience using construction drawings to complete a project from start to completion </li><li>Experience in building and plant maintenance involving carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, and refrigeration work </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Technology Skills: basic computer and MS Office suite </li><li>Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and construction procedures and techniques </li><li>Knowledge of OSHA and ADA requirements, plus building and life safety codes </li><li>Willingness to pursue a planned program of skill improvement </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty </li><li>Knowledge of the use of two-way radios </li><li>Ability to climb and lift up to 75 pounds </li></ul> <p>For assistance regarding the job ad, application process, or application status, please contact the Office of Human Resources at 423-354-5183 or HRstaffing@northeaststate.edu.</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants: To be considered for a position at Northeast State, you must create an online application.
