Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together.</p> <p>The First Line Risk Management Office (1RMO) is a centralized team of risk professionals supporting all of the Schwab 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) business organizations. Our team is responsible for 1LOD governance guidelines to standardize processes, create an efficient and scalable structure, and streamline risk management activities across the 1LOD. We also facilitate the risk management process across Business Lines, including risk identification, monitoring, and reporting, and issues management. Lastly, we manage and execute risk management activities to support 1LOD Business Lines.</p> <p>The Senior Manager, First Line Risk Management - Governance is a critical member of 1RMO responsible for putting in place best-in-class first line of defense risk management capabilities. The Senior Manager will assist in managing programs or initiatives needed to achieve a higher level of maturity and consistency amongst all first line of defense business units within Schwab. In this position you may be required to take on a role within any of the programs and initiatives within 1RMO organization.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Meeting administration and documentation: Work with business partners across all lines of defense to understand change impact and management of policies, standards, risk initiatives, facilitate, document, track, and project-manage meetings to progress 1st LOD adoption and implementation. Facilitate other 1RMO meetings, create materials, construct meeting notes, and other resources where needed. </li><li>1st LOD Advocate and Outreach: Manage outreach regarding 1st and 2nd LOD policies, standards and other risk initiatives. Assist with the creation of training or support provided to various stakeholders to drive awareness and understanding of enterprise-wide risk; Coordinate with 2nd and 3rd LOD on process improvements and communication efforts rolled out to 1st LOD units to ensure effective communication and seamless adoption of evolving enterprise risk requirements. </li><li>Administration of 1st LOD Corporate Business Policies and Standards: Work with document owners to facilitate updates and maintain 1st LOD policies and standards to adhere to minimum requirements set for corporate business policies, including serving as a subject-matter expert and administrator on related policy workflow tools. </li><li>Risk Policy Impact Analysis: Conduct impact analysis on risk initiatives which may include periodic reviews of 2nd line risk policies and standards and work with 1st LOD partners to develop processes to comply with 2nd line risk policies and standards. </li><li>Business Unit Policy Frameworks: Champion and consult business units on formalization and streamlining of BU Policy processes, including serving as a subject-matter expert and administrator on related policy workflow tools, as needed. </li><li>Other 1st LOD Risk Program Development: Assist the Director with establishing and maintaining other Company-wide 1st LOD programs related to risk management, as needed. </li></ul> <p>What you have</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>BA/BS degree. </li><li>5+ years of risk management experience along with 8+ years of professional experience overall. </li><li>Financial services industry experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience working in a Risk or Compliance role. </li><li>Proven success managing to regulatory expectations. </li><li>Strong familiarity with prudential standards for risk management. </li><li>Change management experience. </li><li>Proficiency with Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel along with a working knowledge of SharePoint. </li><li>Strong presentation skills with the ability to inform and persuade both verbally and in writing. </li><li>High level of professional maturity along with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. </li><li>Successful history of facilitating, managing and documenting meetings with middle management and senior leadership. </li><li>Ability to constructively engage a diverse group of people in a productive dialogue. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in lean process and project management, including development of project plans, assignment of tasks, and coordinating communications. </li><li>Comfortable in a fast-paced, self-driven environment and working in the gray with competing and changing priorities. </li><li>Sharp critical thinking skills (creative, strategic, and practical), ability to focus on the most vital areas, problem-solving skills, and strong business and relationship judgment. </li><li>Familiarity with the lifecycle of policies and standards from creation to implementation to resource creation. </li><li>Ability to effectively and proficiently track statuses and other data points. </li></ul>
