Your top priority as Manager, Inventory Accounting & Operations Finance is to lead and optimize financial processes related to inventory and cost accounting while partnering cross-functionally to align freight, forecasting, and analytics with broader business goals. This role bridges the gap between transactional accuracy and strategic financial decision-making. Your positive, professional, roll-up-your-sleeves-to-help attitude contributes to our winning culture and makes sure we leave a lasting impression.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Inventory & Cost Accounting</p> <ul> <li>Manage all financial activities tied to inventory, ensuring alignment between general ledger, manufacturing, distribution centers, and store records. </li><li>Investigate variances and establish corrective actions to resolve recurring issues and system inefficiencies. </li><li>Partner with manufacturing, store ops, merchandising, and DC's, transportation to ensure accurate accounting of freight, cost and inventory. </li></ul> <p>Reporting & Analysis</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and deliver weekly/monthly/quarterly reports, including financial statements and variance analyses. </li><li>Present reporting insights to leadership to inform decision-making, uncover trends, and identify risks or impacts on financial performance. </li><li>Collaborate with FP&A, Pricing, and BI teams to standardize reporting language and ensure relevance to business needs. </li></ul> <p>Financial Controls & Systems</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain controls around financial report creation, document retention, and data accuracy. </li><li>Support testing and implementation of financial systems, offering feedback and process improvements. </li><li>Ensure integrity across multiple reporting platforms (ERP, POS, WMS, etc.) through validation checks and reconciliation reviews. </li></ul> <p>Forecasting & Strategic Finance</p> <ul> <li>Support budgeting, forecasting, and predictive modeling initiatives linked to operations, inventory, freight, and cost. </li><li>Partner with internal teams to align cost structures, margin analysis, and operational inputs with financial outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Leadership & Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and mentor team members, providing clear expectations, coaching, and development plans. </li><li>Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, to deliver clean, accurate results. </li><li>Keep leadership informed of key developments, risks, and strategic insights related to inventory and finance operations. </li></ul> <p>What you will bring to the table:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. </li><li>Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred). </li><li>Previous supervisory experience is required. </li><li>Strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, financial statements, and inventory accounting. </li><li>Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Access, BI reporting tools, POS, and WMS systems preferred. </li><li>Experience in both accounting and financial analytics, including forecasting and operational modeling. </li><li>Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. </li><li>Supervises and performs a variety of complicated tasks. </li><li>A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company personnel and those outside the Company. </li><li>Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment's 12 Core Competencies. </li></ul> <p>About Us</p> <p>Northern Tool + Equipment is a family business with roots stretching back three generations to Minnesota's Iron Range, where our blue-collar work ethic and commitment to serving the people who do the tough jobs was born. We believe in rewarding top talent with pay that reflects your value.</p> </li><li> <p>Variable Pay: Variable pay is a component of compensation that can fluctuate based on performance, results, or specific metrics, rather than being a fixed amount like a salary. Annual bonus tied to company performance are paid annually. Incentive plans tied to an achievement-based outcome are generally paid monthly to quarterly.</p> </li><li> <p>The NTE AIP plan pay ranges from 5% to 100% of base salary. Eligibility is based on grade and roles that manage performance.
