<p>The Lead OT will be working within a fast-paced multidisciplinary team to assess, develop and implement an appropriate inter-disciplinary Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the students within their caseload. They will also be responsible for overseeing other occupational therapists within the department including reviewing documentation, creating and maintaining schedules and facilitating productivity. The student population is primarily non-verbal and non-ambulatory who have a brain injury or brain-based disorder. In addition, it is critical to be part of the research efforts surrounding his or her assigned students as well as the organization's research efforts. Successful attributes include a strong strategic focus, individual leadership in an environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement, effective communication with key constituents and stakeholders, and accountability for results.</p> <p>Please send a resume and cover letter to Jobs@ibrainnyc.org</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Evaluating a student's functional status/performance using validated standardized assessment tools on a quarterly and as needs basis reflecting child development; able to communicate results effectively in both written and verbal formats </li><li>Design and implement interventions that reflect knowledge of child development and specialized techniques appropriate for students with brain injury and brain-based disorders </li><li>Planning treatment and successfully modifying POC as needed based on standardized assessments and evidence based as well as data driven treatment outcomes </li><li>Implementing the plan of care through direct treatment </li><li>Coordinating treatment strategies with the interdisciplinary student team </li><li>Providing instruction and education to patient, family, and caregivers to improve quality of care and enhance student outcomes </li><li>Participating in multidisciplinary patient care conferences and team meetings </li><li>Providing accurate, timely documentation of treatment (session notes), weekly and quarterly reports, any/all student-care specific forms and LMNs </li><li>Participating in appropriate, approved educational and clinical research activities </li><li>Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary team including each student's special education teacher and therapy team </li><li>Prepare and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a timely manner </li><li>Collaborate with parents as necessary and involve them in their child's activities and progress on a regular basis </li><li>Utilize a multi-sensory approach incorporating art, music and technology to design lessons/treatment plans to increase students' communication, social, and life skills </li><li>Must attend and demonstrate active participation in all mandatory trainings </li><li>Assisting in the development and implementation of educational modules for staff in-services and accrediting bodies to include but not limited to IACET (International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training). </li><li>Maintains a safe, clean, and healthy working environment for students and staff by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality for school records based on HIPAA/FERPA </li><li>Other discipline-specific responsibilities based on organizational needs (service delivery, research, continuing education) </li><li>Assists with managing departmental needs and maintaining material and equipment inventory </li><li>Coordinates coverage schedules for staff absences and interdisciplinary communication </li><li>Assist with training new employees, including conducting training for paraprofessionals regarding toileting, self-care, etc. </li><li>Assists to coordinate staff developmental and professional training in-services including departmental meetings, internal and external in-services, and curating opportunities for continuing education through conferences, invitations and lectures. </li><li>Assist in creating, modifying and implementing new as well as current student schedules </li></ul> <p>Research Innovation Duties</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and submit IEP reports with media (quarterly) </li><li>Prepare and submit session notes within session (daily) </li><li>Seizure-like event reporting with media (promptly submitted, as applicable to the student) </li><li>Grand Rounds to include: preparing slides according to provided format, attending GR training meetings (ongoing), attend practice session (as scheduled), giving formal GR presentation (quarterly), and being confident in describing & scoring assessments (s </li><li>Participation in regular iBRAIN Innovation (3 times a year) meetings (as scheduled) </li><li>Help RA/Para fully understand their student's IEP & heighten their ability to formulate in-depth student-specific research questions </li><li>Complete iBRAIN Research Integrity annual training </li><li>For Continuing Education, annually identify 3+ knowledge gaps or competency areas </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must have valid New York State License as an Occupational Therapist </li><li>Must have 2 years of clinical experience in a pediatric setting working with children with brain-based disorders and neurological involvement </li><li>Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills </li><li>Must have the ability to take initiative, and a highly flexible personality type </li><li>Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds independently </li><li>Must be detail-oriented, focused, highly motivated, and able to work as part of a team </li><li>MUST HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR. </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Health insurance </li><li>Dental insurance </li><li>Vision insurance </li><li>Paid time off </li><li>Transportation Management Account </li><li>In some cases, offers H1B Visa </li></ul>
