<p>Title: Financial Aid Assistant</p> <p>Agency: Northern VA Community College</p> <p>Location: Alexandria - 510</p> <p>FLSA: Nonexempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: $22/hour</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Part Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>To assist all Northern Virginia Community College students who have applied for financial aid, or who wish to, by providing information that will guide each student through the aid process-over the phone, by email, or by in-person consultations using appropriate policies and regulations. To provide assistance for students in the on-line processes that support the financial aid process and to monitor a computer lab where that assistance is provided.</p> <ul> <li>Serves students by providing excellent customer service. </li><li>Handles customer questions and inquiries with the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism to resolve customer issues. </li><li>Acts as the liaison between students and Financial Aid Representatives </li><li>Directs students to the proper individual or department as necessary. </li><li>Analyzes ?nancial aid information provided by students on FAFSA to determine completeness and correctness. </li><li>Identify discrepancies related to information provided on documents vs. information provided on FAFSA, and reviews submitted documentation for accuracy to be scanned to the CFAO for review. </li><li>Assists students in identifying and completing requested items required to complete the application process. </li><li>Assists students, whether in the ?nancial aid o?ce, virtually through Zoom/Teams or in the open computer lab, in completing the online FAFSA application and all FAFSA related requirements; </li><li>Assists students in navigating MyNOVA and the NVCC/VCCS email and in understanding College Financial Aid Support Center services. </li><li>Applicants must reside in Virginia, Maryland or District of Columbia. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Strong customer service </li><li>Familiarity with computer applications related to ?nancial aid as well as student information systems. </li><li>Knowledge of o?ce procedures, various o?ce equipment, </li><li>Excellent communication and organization skills. </li><li>Ability to work well with students, staff and other o?ces for successful </li></ul> <p>resolution to di?cult problems.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently in identifying and addressing the student's ?nancial aid needs as they relate to the application process. </li><li>Knowledge and ability to follow rules, regulations and understand standards established by the college, state and federal ?nancial aid programs. </li><li>Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple task and </li></ul> <p>demands.</p> <p>Minimum Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in a customer service setting </li><li>Experience in higher education environment </li><li>Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft O?ce </li><li>Experience interacting with diverse populations </li></ul> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with ?nancial aid programs </li><li>Bi-lingual - Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, Urdu, and/or Hindi </li></ul>
