<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Contact vhaedrpprogramsupport@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>The Home Based Primary Care Physician is responsible for medical care delivered by the HBPC teams he/she is assigned to, reports to the HBPC Medical Director and works in collaboration with the HBPC Program Director to meet the requirements of the program. The Physician may have a faculty appointment and be involved in academic activities with affiliated Medical Schools or residency program when applicable.</p> <p>The Physician provides patient care directly or through the supervision of residents in either the home or outpatient settings or in collaboration with LIPs. In addition to the role as clinician, the Physician may have administrative responsibilities for leadership and direction of programs in HPBC , as well as effective interface with the Ambulatory Care staff. The Physician may participate in accreditation processes, reviews, and site visits. Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Assuming primary medical responsibility for HBPC patients and conducting clinical examinations in the patients' homes </li><li>Identifying the patients' medical problems, and the medical management of these problems </li><li>Determining the need for consultation from medical, surgical, and/or psychiatric subspecialty clinics </li><li>Determining the need for, and facilitating admission to the hospital </li><li>Serving as collaborator and/or Physician delegate for advanced practice nurses </li><li>Providing medical administrative support such as signing forms requiring Physician signature for the HBPC patients </li><li>Serving as acting Medical Director upon the absence of the Medical Director </li><li>Plan and direct the educational and clinical experience of medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to HBPC </li><li>Assume a leadership role in the development and implementation of the HBPC performance improvement plan </li><li>Advocate for HBPC with VHA leadership and the medical community </li><li>Providing clinical input and oversight for patient treatment plans for HBPC </li><li>Participating in HBPC team meetings, keeping the HBPC teams apprised of medical care advances and practice standards </li><li>Arranging Physician coverage and communicating the plan of coverage to the HBPC team </li><li>Collaborating with other HBPC Medical Directors, VISN leadership, and VA Central Office staff on program development issues </li><li>Collaborating with community home health and hospice agencies as needed for HBPC patients </li><li>Following HBPC Staff Safety procedures </li><li>Complying with Medical Center and VHA regulations regarding the use of government vehicles </li><li>Demonstrating work practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Full time, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (or as determined by the needs of the service)</p>
