This role is pivotal in overseeing the design and planning how our network and service design interacts with the operational fabric of our organization. As the network continues to evolve - the role will lead an extremely talented team of engineers who are tasked with the design, architecture, operation and maintenance of our core, transport and backbone networks.</p> <p>The role drives the development of complex solutions to support our residential, commercial, and partner business solutions. As part of this function, the role will drive architecture and standards definition, capacity and performance planning, and whole life cycle operation of our infrastructure. You will interact with all areas of the business, including development, consulting services, IT, finance, HR, marketing, outside partners, and senior executives. Your strategic and operational leadership will be crucial in implementing support programs and processes, driving the development and operationalization of programs, and managing the department's budget and resource planning. You will lead a team dedicated to improving the quality of support provided to internal customers and the quality of services delivered to our external customers. As we evolve, you will have direct influence in how we revolutionize our network and network architecture of the future.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Core Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provides leadership for teams responsible for whole lifecycle management of the Comcast Core Network, providing service to millions of residential and commercial customers, … </li><li>Liaises with peers and partners through the organization to ensure that solutions and programs are delivered with the optimum quality within timescales driven by business needs </li><li>Works with internal teams and vendors to ensure the optimum technical and commercial decisions are made which align with tactical and strategic direction </li><li>Intimate knowledge of industry standard network processes and procedures in the realm of Routing & Switching, Transport, Core, Backbone and other network domains </li><li>Provides leadership and direction for improving operating processes, selecting new technology and technical problem resolution. </li><li>Skilled executive leader with a proven ability to transform teams to drive an evolving strategic direction </li><li>Adapts to changing business needs and redirects staff and projects to meet these changing needs. </li><li>Quantifies and develops business cases for new initiatives, creating the basis for data-driven decisions </li><li>Provides effective direction in identifying objectives, establishing plans/milestones and success criteria, monitoring team progress, managing risk and successfully delivering the desired results. </li><li>Ensures that alignment exists between corporate objectives and those of the core network support organization. </li><li>Establishes internal policies, procedures and systems in line with industry best practices to respond to functional and technical support needs. </li><li>Provides leadership in integrated functional work teams. </li><li>Creates and manages capital and operating budgets. </li><li>Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. </li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Skills for Success:</p> <p>Executive Presence</p> <p>The leader will be the visible face of the core network organization and will need to cast the right shadow as they do this. They will interface with CxOs, Divisional Leaders, Peers and decision makers in CONNECT and other organization, inside and outside of TPX.</p> <p>Inspirational Leadership</p> <p>The organization will be breaking new ground in the coming days, months and years which will result in inevitable change and uncomfortable positions. These are vital to our evolution to support and adapt to new themes - all driven by effectiveness, reliability and growth. The leader will need to be able to articulate the opportunities and the changes needed to the team, and help them understand and adapt to the new challenges.</p> <p>Network Knowledge and Experience</p> <p>Support of a network the size and scope of Comcast's needs an intimate knowledge of accepted network design principles, protocols, processes and industry norms - and the willingness to implement these when required and challenge when necessary. Broad understanding of the different design drivers is required, and the ability to parlay these into alignment with budget, strategy, operational plausibility and execution is a must.</p> <p>Calmness Under Pressure</p> <p>Whole lifecycle management of a network will inherently result in situations where there are problems with the operational network, or there are design impasses with internal organizations or vendors which will need to be assessed, negotiated and overcome. The right attitude is important - and the willingness to drive ethically to the right conclusion is key. This will need to marry execution efficiency with empathy.</p> <p>Team Management and Growth</p> <p>The team has and will undergo significant change - from many aspects including responsibility, structure, and people. Setting the right growth path for the organization means incubating and nurturing the leadership structure in a positive way to ensure that there is good bedrock for future development.</p> <p>Focus on Execution and Ownership of Operations</p> <p>The team and the organization need to have leaders who lead from the front - reinforcing the need for excellent, continuously driving improvement, and creating a structure to execute on deliverables and manage the network in a way which delights existing and future customers.
