<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>Primary Location(s): Hampshire County</p> <p>Secondary Location(s): Berkeley, Jefferson, Morgan, Mineral, Hardy, and Grant Counties</p> <p>The mission of the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration is to regulate, enforce, and control the sales and distribution, transportation, storage, and consumption of alcoholic liquors and nonintoxicating beer as mandated by the West Virginia Liquor Control and Nonintoxicating Beer Act. Under general supervision, at full-performance level, this position performs inspection and investigative work for the enforcement of state alcohol laws within an assigned region of the state.</p> <p>The following describes attributes of the ideal candidate for this position:</p> <p>Ideal Candidate Must:</p> <ul> <li>Be prepared to perform all work in an expeditious and efficient manner with attention to detail and in accordance with current guidelines and directives. </li><li>Be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and interpret and apply procedures based on the task at hand. </li><li>Have a working knowledge of business etiquette, good grammar, spelling, and math skills. </li><li>Have the ability to compose standard business correspondence. </li><li>Exhibit appropriate interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. </li><li>Maintain a valid state issued driver's license. </li><li>At all times, maintain confidentiality. </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidate Will:</p> <ul> <li>Be required to effectively interact with all WVABCA departments, staff, and licensees in a courteous and professional manner. </li><li>Be responsible for his/her own work within the framework of desired objectives, priorities, and deadlines. </li><li>Be available to work evenings, nights, and weekends when necessary. </li><li>Have knowledge of the principles of evidence collection, identification and preservation, and be able to exercise those principles to ensure the protection of evidence in preparation for legal procedures. </li><li>Maintain frequent contact with and interact professionally with licensees, the general public, and law enforcement personnel. </li><li>Inspect WVABCA licensed premises for compliance with state alcohol laws, rules, and regulations both prior to and after licensure. </li><li>Conduct background investigations on potential licensees. </li><li>Investigate complaints against licensees and their employees. </li><li>Conduct undercover operations and compliance checks throughout the state. </li><li>Cooperate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as required. </li><li>Write detailed, accurate, and concise reports. </li><li>Conduct full-performance level inspections and investigations for enforcement of alcohol laws, rules, and regulations. </li><li>Serve hearing notices and subpoenas. </li><li>Establish a working knowledge of state alcohol laws, rules and regulations, and be able to explain and educate licensees, applicants, law enforcement personnel, and the general public regarding those laws, rules and regulations. </li><li>Maintain working knowledge of agency programs, policies, and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidate May:</p> <ul> <li>Be required to testify in administrative proceedings and criminal cases. </li><li>Be required to travel throughout the state in the performance of assigned responsibilities. </li><li>At the discretion of the Commissioner, perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Click The APPLY Link To Apply Online.</p> <p>IMPORTANT:Your eligibility will be based on information provided in your resume or application; therefore, make sure your resume or application is detailed and complete.
