This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You'll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.</p> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct residential inspections in building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades as assigned. </li><li>Verify compliance with the Florida Building Code, National Electrical Code (NEC), Florida Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, Florida Residential Code, and applicable local amendments. </li><li>Communicate inspection results and code requirements clearly and professionally to contractors, homeowners, and municipal staff. </li><li>Utilize electronic inspection systems to document results, issue corrections, and maintain accurate records. </li><li>Inspect a variety of residential projects including new construction, remodels, additions, accessory structures, pools, and roofing. </li><li>Provide guidance regarding code interpretation, permitting requirements, and best practices. </li><li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of code changes and continuing education requirements. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned to support building department operations. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building systems. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret construction plans, product approvals, and engineered documents. </li><li>Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently, manage daily inspection routes, and maintain efficiency. </li><li>Comfortable using mobile technology and electronic inspection platforms. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li> <p>DBPR State of FL Standard Inspector Licensing - Residential and Building required</p> </li><li> <p>Other Commercial trades a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid driver's license with good driving record</p> </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Mobility & Movement:</p> <ul> <li>Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling to conduct inspections. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated or confined areas. </li><li>Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25-50 pounds (e.g., inspection tools, plans, or small equipment). </li></ul> <p>Vision & Hearing:</p> <ul> <li>Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans, technical documents, and observe construction details. </li><li>Ability to detect safety hazards and defects through visual and auditory inspection. </li><li>Hearing sufficient to communicate with contractors, workers, and the public in noisy environments. </li></ul> <p>Manual Dexterity:</p> <ul> <li>Use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate inspection equipment, and use computers/tablets for reporting. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work performed in both office and field settings. </li><li>Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and construction site environments (noise, dust, uneven terrain). </li><li>Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations within a region. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: SAFEbuilt pays competitive wages and has a comprehensive benefit offering.
