<p>This position is open only to State of Colorado Residents</p> <p>Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies.</p> <p>About Fort Logan:</p> <p>The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) is one of two state hospitals serving our community. The vision of CMHHIFL is to provide the highest quality mental health services to persons with complex, serious, and persistent mental illness within the resources available. Our mission is to support those individuals in achieving their recovery goals and reaching their full potential. CMHHIFL provides inpatient treatment to adult patients, generally between the ages of 18- 59. The hospital currently has 138 adult inpatient beds and over six treatment milieus serving civil and forensic individuals. This library houses current books, journals and media, provides reference services and interlibrary loan services, manages the electronic databases and library catalog, provides library instruction, and cooperates with local and federal library consortia. The second, the Patient Library provides current print books, ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to serve the recreational, informational, and educational needs of the entire patient population. The Patient Library collection is funded through state and federal grant funds, administered by the Colorado Department of Education.</p> <p>This position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with hours subject to change</p> <p>About the Position:</p> <p> </p> <p> This position exists to support the Librarian II in administering library services in both CMHHFL libraries. The position is responsible for following policies and procedures, for evaluating, ordering, cataloging, and preparing library materials for use, for document reproduction, maintenance of the library collections, for interlibrary loan and document delivery services, collaborating with other disciplines to provide structured programming (virtual and in-person) for patients, and for providing reference and research services to staff. The position will work together and separately with the Librarian II to provide coverage Monday-Friday, therefore, this position must be able to work independently. Duties in this position include: </p> <p>Technical Services:</p> <ul> <li>checks in and verifies the receipt of new library materials, catalogs materials and enters bibliographic data in the automated computer system, prepares materials for check-out, and works with the Librarian to conduct regular, systematic inventories of both collections </li></ul> <p>Providing Materials to Stakeholders: </p> <ul> <li>responds to requests from staff, students, and patients for articles, books, and media </li><li>provides materials for staff and students from the print and/or online collections in a timely manner </li><li>checks out materials to patrons, keeps accurate statistics, and complies with library policies, if the material requested is not owned by Fort Logan, the position provides interlibrary loan service (ILL). </li><li>performs research to locate library materials requested, uses the appropriate method to borrow materials, and returns materials to lending institutions </li><li> receives requests from other medical libraries and responds within the appropriate time frame </li><li>interacts closely with other institutions, requiring knowledge of local and national consortia ILL protocols, and policies of other institutions. </li><li>keeps accurate statistics and complies with federal copyright law. In the Patient Library, responds to patient requests for books, magazines, and ebooks/audiobooks on the Kindles </li><li>assists patients with reading choices (Reader's Advisory Service) by suggesting authors and titles </li><li>assists with the Patient Library's weekly outreach program, including responding to patient requests for materials, choosing materials, and delivering books to the treatment units </li></ul> <p>Reference Services:</p> <ul> <li>provides and answers basic reference inquiries and research questions for staff and students in a timely manner, using the library's online databases, reference and print collections, and Internet resources </li><li>after conducting a reference interview with the patron, the technician decides which library resources will best provide the information to answer the patron's needs, and utilizes the library online databases, the print collection, and/or other libraries or experts in the field </li></ul> <p>Collaborate with Clinical Disciplines to Provide In-Person Programming: </p> <ul> <li>work with the clinical therapists to plan and implement scheduled library activities for patients </li></ul> <p>Other Duties as Assigned: </p> <ul> <li>performs other duties as assigned, for example, the position may need to clean and/or repair materials after they have been returned to one of the libraries </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Experience Only:</p> <p>Three (3) years of relevant experience in a library environment </p> <p>OR</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>strong customer service skills </li><li>previous state experience </li></ul> <p>Conditions of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to pass a Full Background-Name check, TRAILS, Fingerprinting, CAPS </li><li>Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position.
