<p>Western Connection Program Mentor 2024-2025 SY JobID: 6585</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services (Non-certified)/Mentor-Western Connection Program</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/25/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>WCSU</p> <p>&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Mentors work with 2 students per semester for a total of three hours per week in the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Coursework </li><li>Previewing, highlighting outlining, and taking notes for class </li><li>Test taking strategies, research for papers, editing and revising written work </li><li>Helping to assimilate the students socially in the Western Connecticut State University community: </li><li>Use different University facilities with the student (Library, Tutoring Lab, Computer Center) to help students learn the college layout. </li><li>Socialize with the students in the game room, coffeehouse, and cafe to model appropriate social behavior. </li></ul> <p>Mentors are required to attend one monthly mentor meeting and complete journal entries for each student on each individual mentor session.</p> <p>Mentors are also encouraged to attend the social events that the program offers to the students.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Dipolma </li><li>Must be a current student at WCSU </li><li>Education Majors, Psych Majors, or Social Work Majors - preferred but not required </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>$15.69 per hour.
