<p>Roxbury Community College is an urban, public, 2-year College serving a diverse community, including people of color, recent immigrants, and non-traditional populations. Our annual report is available at www.rcc.mass.edu/clery.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Adjunct Biology Instructor</p> <p>Unit: DCE: DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement</p> <p>Dept: STEM</p> <p>Reports To: Dean of STEM</p> <p>Date: Fall 2024</p> <p>General Statement of Duties:</p> <p>Instructor for biological science courses (i.e. biology, chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology) in accordance with description published in Roxbury Community College catalog and the approved course outline. Responsibilities include giving lectures and guiding laboratory assignments.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide instruction of his/her assigned course(s) </li><li>Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students' academic growth and guides their professional development. </li><li>Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson plans. </li><li>Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress. </li><li>Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments in a timely manner to students. </li><li>Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available resources. </li><li>Follow a syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines. </li><li>Meets with and advises students before and after class or by appointment. </li><li>Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress. </li><li>Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular biology or related Science field. </li><li>Teaching experience at the college level. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests. </li><li>Familiarity with Jenzabar or similar online learning applications. </li><li>Teaching Experience at a Community College. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles. </li><li>Experience with Online teaching and OER. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salary: The Adjunct Faculty salary range is determined in accordance with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>Roxbury Community College is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, age, veteran status, genetic information, gender identity or sexual orientation in its programs and activities as required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and other applicable statutes and college policies.
