<p>GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>Provides on-the-job working leadership to employees in the assigned areas.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Provides training assistance to new employees on the line. </li><li>Assist Supervisors / Assistant Supervisors with verifying hours and accuracy of timesheets. </li><li>Checks daily availability of necessary materials, tools, and equipment. </li><li>Works closely with the Supervisor / Assistant Supervisor & the Inspection team to maintain quality and reduce lost time and repairs. </li><li>Suggest ways to simplify and improve methods and procedures wherever possible. </li><li>Responsible for observing and enforcing safety practices throughout the plant to maintain a safe working environment. </li><li>Receives instructions verbally or from job cards and/or detailed prints. </li><li>May be required to perform up to three types of welding processes including GMAW & GTAW in accordance with various AWS and Military Codes and Specifications. More senior level position may also require the ability to Oxy-Fuel weld. </li><li>Must be able to read and understand Blueprints (drawings) and associated welding symbols </li><li>Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions. </li><li>Assists with and/or constructs welding jigs and fixtures; some layout required. More senior level position includes designing the layout. </li><li>Selects proper welding parameters, and electrodes/filler metals for the particular type of metal to be welded which may include ferrous and non-ferrous metals (i.e., aluminum, steel, stainless steel). </li><li>Performs tack welding and Oxygen/Fuel torch for heating and cutting. </li><li>Chips, grinds and cleans welds as necessary. </li><li>Performs other tasks associated with welding, such as joining preparation, clamping, measurement verification, inspection of completed welds and providing count of completed pieces. </li><li>Uses test equipment (i.e., fixed gages, fillet weld gages, pressure gages) to check work. </li><li>Senior level position aids in design and debugging of new welding fixtures; assists in establishing and qualifying welding procedure specifications (WPS). </li><li>Uses various tools and machines which may include GMAW, GTAW welding equipment, automatic welding gun, plasma cutter, oxygen/fuel torch, various grinding apparatus, and other tooling and equipment as needed. </li><li>Safely operate overhead cranes and hoists </li><li>Maintains a clean and safe work area. </li><li>Checks that necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available and applicable to requirements. </li></ul> <p>Other Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Other duties may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:</p> <p>This position has limited supervisory responsibilities.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards. </li><li>Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors. </li><li>Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary. </li><li>Ability to adhere to workplace rules. </li><li>Basic computer skills are required. </li><li>Ability to accurately read tape measure; convert between fractions and decimals. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly with others both verbally and in written form. </li><li>Ability to read routings. </li><li>Working knowledge of welding equipment, working properties of materials and knowledge of fusion metals. </li><li>Must be able to pass welder certifications test. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or equivalent. </li><li>Vocational degree in welding or equivalent experience. </li><li>6+ years of related weld experience. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Shop Floor environment. </li><li>Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools) </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to tolerate constant noise (i.e., machine motors) </li><li>Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions. </li><li>Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. </li><li>Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test </li><li>Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. </li></ul>
