<p>General Summary/Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for providing information and referral services to clients needing to access</p> <p>community resources. The Peer Support Specialist is an active member of the team and provides peer recovery</p> <p>support services to individuals with substance use disorders. Under supervision of the care coordinator or clinical</p> <p>manager, they will function as a role model to peers. They are responsible for exhibiting competency in personal</p> <p>recovery and use of coping skills, serving as an advocate, and providing information about peer support in outpatient</p> <p>and ambulatory settings. The Peer Support Specialist performs a wide range of tasks to assist clients in regaining</p> <p>independence within the community and ownership over their own recovery process. The Peer Support Specialist will</p> <p>provide services in the community including at other agencies, correction sites, and in the home.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED</p> <p>Additional requirements:</p> <p>Type of degree: N/A</p> <p>Area of study or major: N/A</p> <p>Preferred educational qualifications: N/A</p> <p>Position specific testing requirement: N/A</p> <p>Licensure/Certification/Registration:</p> <p>Must satisfy relevant state requirements for Certified Peer Recovery Supporter including being</p> <p>registered through OMHAS as a Certified Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter.</p> <p>Must have an active driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience</p> <p>Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A</p> <p>Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A</p> <p>Preferred experience: N/A</p> <p>Other experience requirements: Must be a person with a lived experience of substance use disorder or</p> <p>co-occurring mental health & substance use disorder. Must be able to attest to a minimum of 2 years of</p> <p>sobriety</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills</p> <p>Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking and ability to communicate in writing.</p> <p>Excellent organizational skills</p> <p>. Must be physically and mentally able to competently deal with verbally and physically aggressive patients.</p> <p>Computer keyboarding or typing skills recommended</p> <p>Working knowledge of mental health, drug and alcohol, and other community agencies and resources</p>
