Applicants will be considered for open seasonal positions based on their qualifications, availability, and willingness to travel to the assigned locations.</p> <p>Opening Date</p> <p>February 12, 2026</p> <p>Closing Date</p> <p>November 19, 2026</p> <p>Job Requisition Number</p> <p>JR101169 SEASONAL BOAT GREETER COORDINATOR (Evergreen) (Open)</p> <p>Pay Grade</p> <p>C40221 H</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Seasonal Boat Greeter Program Coordinator</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>The State is accepting online applications for available Seasonal Boat Greeter Coordinator positions.</p> <p>Illustrative Examples of Work Performed</p> <p>In addition to the duties described for Seasonal Boat Greeters, a Seasonal Boat Greeter Coordinator provides environmental education and outreach and functions in a supervisory capacity under the direction of and in cooperation with a full-time Environmental Scientist. A Seasonal Boat Greeter Coordinator is responsible for representing RIDEM in a professional, courteous manner at events and at the DEM State Boat Ramp(s) at lakes, ponds, or rivers where they are assigned to interact with the public, staff and boating community. A Boat Greeter Coordinator directs trainings and is responsible for establishing, posting, and implementing weekly and daily work schedules and location assignments to insure appropriate staff coverage at boat ramps throughout the state. Coordinators train staff to interact with boaters to assist with detailed visual observations of parked motor boats, paddle craft, trailers, and associated gear. This position frequently visits RIDEM boat ramps during the summer to provide feedback to boat greeters. Coordinators may educate staff and visitors about aquatic invasive species, explain decontamination methods, and design brochures or educational materials. Coordinators may troubleshoot software on handheld tablets to record data on boat traffic, boater interactions, and plant observations. Coordinator will review incoming data, provide feedback to staff, and summarize boater interactions at the end of the season (October 15). Coordinator data analysis will help inform on-going management actions undertaken by the state, municipalities or lake associations. Position is part time in the Spring (maximum of 10 hours per week) to prepare for upcoming season, but may be up to 35 hours per week June - September. State Boat ramps experience high visitation during peak summer such as weekends and holidays, therefore weekends and holiday shifts are expected.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>Eligible candidates must have reliable mode of transportation and must be at least 18 years of age. Comfort engaging with the public, strong interpersonal and clear spoken communication skills required. Essential job functions require movement across uneven terrain, reaching with hands and arms, bending, kneeling or crouching low to the ground, as well as close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
