<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Center for Student Success within the Division of Student Life at Oberlin College seeks applications for a Program Coordinator for First-Generation and Income-Eligible (FGIE) services. This is a 10-month (August 1 - May 31) live-on Administrative and Professional Staff position designed for a recent college graduate or early-career professional who reports to the Director of Student Success & Operations.</p> <p>Successful candidates will have experience with programming and support for first-generation and/or low income students. This is a one-year position with the possibility of a second- year renewal and includes an on-campus apartment and a meal plan when dining services are in session. The coordinator must be able to work periodic nights and weekends, as needed.</p> <p>Applicants for this position must be able to articulate what diversity and inclusion means to them. The ability to create a welcoming environment, be approachable and kind, as well as communicate effectively with a diverse student population is preferred. An interest in helping college students in their academic careers, training skills, and presentation skills are desirable. This is an ideal position for an early career professional seeking to expand their knowledge base in the DEI&A arena.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a resource for students; work toward identifying and eliminating barriers that first-generation and/or income-eligible students face. </li><li>Co-supervise undergraduate student employees, including the CSS Peer Mentors. Oversee PMs as they produce a quarterly newsletter, create content for social media, and manage events. </li><li>Help plan annual celebratory and educational events and programs aimed towards the FGIE community. </li><li>Design and lead programs to meet the needs of FGIE students. </li><li>Assist in the implementation of the FGIE strategic plan. </li><li>Assist in the daily operations of the department. </li><li>Co-facilitate presentations and training on topics related to FGIE community members. </li><li>Support annual Resident Assistants' (RA) training on FGIE issues. </li><li>Assist in outreach efforts with the larger Lorain County and Oberlin community. </li><li>Collaborate with other areas of Student Affairs and departments on events and programs. Participate in the programs and initiatives of the Student Affairs Division. </li><li>Represent CSS by tabling at different fairs and events on campus. </li><li>Become an active member of the campus community by attending campus events. </li><li>Act as an FGIE student group and organization liaison. </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions Marginal Job Functions Required Qualifications</p> <p>B.A. degree; experience demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of and track record working on issues and concerns of FGIE students; experience working with students in a higher education context, preferably a liberal arts setting.</p> <ul> <li>Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, are required to responsibly execute the position. </li><li>Occasional travel to/from external locations for the facilitation of training, meetings and other university functions. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <p>Familiarity with Oberlin College and Conservatory.</p> <p>Quick Link for Posting https://jobs.oberlin.edu/postings/16007 Compensation</p> <p>Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package.</p> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>A completed application will consist of a cover letter, resume, statement of commitment to diversity, equity, and access, and a list of references.</p>
