<p>Job Summary</p> <p>An assembler I duties are defined as the multiple operations performed on product that contain a single fiber within each connector . This product family is expressed generally as "Pre-Term or PPS". The operations included but not limited to: cable cut, assembly, polish, visual, end face geometry, optical testing, parts assembly, fusion splicer assembly, and packing. The associate will be required to demonstrate proficiency in use of hand tools for a variety of products. . Though the associate will be cross trained in multiple operations, the associate will be assigned a specific operation that they will perform on a daily basis. The associate will move between operations on an as needed basis only.</p> <p>Major Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>95% Assigned one of -Pre-Assembly/Assembly/Polish/Test/Shelf/Pack/Parts </li><li>5% Process improvements/safety/troubleshooting </li><li>Perform assigned tasks consistently, including a variety intermediate and advanced fiber optic assembly processes </li><li>Follow OFS Personnel Policies & Safety Procedures and ISO guidelines </li><li>Responsible for maintaining a clean work area (5S) </li><li>Notify support personnel of equipment/process problems in a timely manner in order to minimize down time and maximize efficiency and yield </li><li>Responsible for product quality as defined by established procedures and product drawings/specifications </li><li>Work independently or as a team member at assigned workstation </li><li>Support and improve production processes </li><li>Support continuous improvement efforts- SGA/Quality circles </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>Previous manufacturing experience </li><li>Intermediate Math skills including but not limited to unit conversions, fractions, decimals area and length calculations </li><li>Familiar with a wide variety of hand tools and measuring devices </li><li>Ability to read and interpret term sheets and procedures </li><li>Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, SGA, QC circles </li><li>Demonstrate people and communication skills in a team environment </li></ul> <p>Decision Making Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Makes routine decision using pre-established guidelines regarding products meeting quality standards </li><li>Will also be able to resolve minor machine problems and determine when issues need to be escalated to Technicians, Production Leads or Engineering. </li></ul> <p>Direction Given and/or Received</p> <ul> <li>Receive direction from Production/Engineering Manager, Supervisor, Production Control, Manufacturing Production Leads and Engineering. </li></ul>
