The employees of the Martinsburg VAMC are dedicated to improving the quality of life for eligible veterans through excellent health care.</p> <ul> <li>Physician's clinical activity shall be a function of the VAMC Executive Committee of the Medical Staff clinical privileging process. </li><li>Provides direct hands-on patient care including evaluation and treatment of the Nephrology patients, determination whether patients need to be admitted to the hospital or managed in the outpatient setting, and management of chronic disease. </li><li>Comprehensive initial medical/psychosocial history and physical examination </li><li>Order appropriate diagnostic tests and work-up </li><li>Review and interpret diagnostic tests and take appropriate action </li><li>Formulate and record diagnostic impressions </li><li>Refer patients with appropriate consultations both within the VA and in the community </li><li>Provide clinical guidance to patients, families and other health care providers over the phone, secure messaging or through the mail to coordinate health care, educate and give advice </li><li>Ensure accurate documentation of medical assessments, interactions and observations. </li><li>Responsible for supervising and teaching medical residents and students. </li><li>May be required to oversee mid-level practitioners, such as nurse practitioners or physician assistants. </li><li>Enter orders into CPRS for medications, consults, testing etc. </li><li>Demonstrates current clinical practice. </li><li>Attend Medical Center and community meetings, seminars, conferences. </li><li>Establishes inter-personal and intra-departmental relationships to enhance optimal patient care. </li><li>Demonstrates competent and effective oral and written communication and provides appropriate patient/family member teaching and education. </li><li>Maintains familiarity and compliance with hospital infection prevention policies and procedures, ensuring the use of antiseptic methods of all in-clinic procedures. </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
