<p>From this posting we are looking to fill positions as a Mechanical Craft Worker or Industrial Plant Mechanic I. Pay will be determined by job title hired and dependent on experience/skills/knowledge, and abilities of the candidate. Please be thorough in filling out your application. A resume is NOT a substitute for filling out your application.</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Customarily, candidates are hired at the beginning of the pay grade." </li></ul> <p>Mechanical Craft Worker</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY: </p> <p>Performs semi-skilled work as the second member of a maintenance crew assisting a higher skilled trades person in the accomplishment of industrial plant mechanical maintenance. Initially, work assignments may, general maintenance activities performed under close supervision (depending upon the employee's prior experience). As the employee becomes more experienced, assignments more complex and are performed with greater independence.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Assists journey level mechanics in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial plant mechanical equipment and systems such as pumps, large horsepower gear boxes and mixers, bar screens, conveyor belts, slurry pumps and chemical feed pumps.</p> <p>Participates in the repair of mechanical equipment used in the wastewater industry, Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and compost facility.</p> <p>Performs maintenance and repair work of a routine nature under the direct</p> <p>supervision of a Plant Mechanic.</p> <p>Inventories or restocks frequently used supplies and materials.</p> <p>Maintains activity logs and records of jobs completed and supplies and equipment used.</p> <p>Also performs general maintenance tasks necessary to maintain facilities and performs general cleaning/housekeeping maintenance tasks. Works days, but may be called to work weekends, evenings, and weather-related events to perform emergency work as assigned.</p> <p>Performs preventive maintenance checks as scheduled. </p> <p>All other duties as assigned</p> <p>Industrial Plant Mechanic I</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY: </p> <p>Performs semi-skilled and skilled work as a member of a maintenance crew assisting a high skilled trades person in the accomplishment of industrial plant mechanical maintenance. (Educational documentation will be requested upon offer of employment.)</p> <p>Two years of progressively responsible experience working as a mechanic's helper or comparable position is preferred.</p> <p>Employment offers to all new hires are contingent upon the job candidates successfully passing background, motor vehicle and reference checks, drug screening, and post job offer physicals (that may include pulmonary testing). All applicants are subject to physical assessments as required by job.</p> <p>Additional Minimum Qualifications for Mechanical Craft WorkerAny combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.</p> <p>Basic Windows and computer knowledge and skill level required.</p> <p>Testing for reading comprehension and basic workplace math calculations, will be administered prior to an interview and/or job offer. Testing scores will be a contributing factor for selection.</p> <p>Required to workdays, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and weather events as scheduled or needed in accordance with departmental policies.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications:</p> <p>Possession of a current valid driver license. Possession of a Class A CDL is preferred or ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months from date of hire.</p> <p>Additional Minimum Qualifications for Industrial Plant Mechanic I</p> <p>Intermediate proficiency in welding; welding certification is desirable but not required.</p> <p>A general knowledge of plumbing and pipe fitting is desired.</p> <p>Additional vocational or technical training in mechanical maintenance for application in an industrial plant environment is preferred.</p> <p>Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.</p> <p>A written test will be administered to determine mechanical aptitude, knowledge of safety practices, knowledge and use of tools and reading, understanding and interpreting written material, and basic mathematics.</p> <p>Basic Windows and computer knowledge and skill level required.</p> <p>Required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and weather events as scheduled or needed in accordance with departmental policies.</p> <p>A good attendance record is vital in this position. Attendance records will be a contributing factor for selection.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications:</p> <p>Possession of or the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License with a tanker endorsement within six months of hire date is preferred. The selected candidate must successfully pass a three-year motor vehicle check.</p> <p>While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, use hands to ?nger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 100pounds.</p> <p>While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, or vibration.</p> <p>The incumbent's working conditions are typically loud for limited durations while working with power tools, equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Proper use of PPE and knowing when it is required.</p> <p>As a disaster team member, the employee is required to be available to work before, during, and after disaster as directed.</p> <p>MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:</p> <p>Various hand and power tools</p> <p>Cutting torch</p> <p>Plasma cutters</p> <p>Chop saws</p> <p>Band saws</p> <p>Drill presses</p> <p>Power sanders</p> <p>Grinders and drills</p> <p>Pipe threaders and cutters</p> <p>Gas powered centrifugal pumps</p> <p>Light truck or other motor vehicle</p> <p>Heavy equipment such as: boom truck, truck mounted crane, backhoe, bobcat, all terrain,</p> <p>Forklift</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <p>Tools, methods, materials, and techniques of an equipment mechanic. Operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.</p> <p>Occupational hazards and safety precautions. Basic mathematics.</p> <p>Skill in:</p> <p>Working with hand and power tools. Performing maintenance and repair tasks.</p> <p>Operating farm equipment such as large tractors/backhoes.</p> <p>Ability to:</p> <p>Use of hand and power tools to perform maintenance activities. Read and understand manuals.</p> <p>Understand and follow oral and written instructions.</p> <p>Work as a member of a team, becoming increasingly knowledgeable and skillful in the field chosen.</p> <p>Perform basic mathematical calculations. Operate large tractors/backhoes.</p> <p>Learn the proper use of all related heavy equipment and shop tools.</p>
