Achieving this means continuing to shape the future of communications by applying the best minds to the challenges our customers face every day.</p> <p>About the Job</p> <p>The Plant General Manager leads all aspects of operations at Lightera's Sturbridge facility, with a primary focus on safety, compliance, and overall performance. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on execution across core functions including operations, safety, quality, R&D, supply chain, ESG, and human resources. The General Manager ensures the plant operates safely and efficiently, fosters a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement to achieve corporate objectives. The role also supports business growth and innovation through close collaboration with other Lightera and Furukawa Electric Group (FEC) production facilities.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Promoting a safe work environment and complying with safety and environmental regulations. </li><li>Developing and implementing strategies for business growth and to optimize the operation. </li><li>Support sales initiatives by providing innovative options to secure business now and in the future. </li><li>Managing the budget, cost control and asset management while monitoring the financial health of the location. </li><li>Oversee day-to-day operations to exceed KPIs such as managing inventory, on-time deliveries, scrap, and staffing. </li><li>Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (sales, marketing, suppliers, customers, Lightera and FEC senior management) </li><li>Generating regular reports on performance, analyzing data, and providing insight. </li><li>Developing talent and building strong teams who are empowered and challenged to succeed. </li><li>Communicating with employees and other stakeholders on a frequent basis on results and direction through Townhall meetings and other avenues. </li><li>Support and exchange Best Practices with other Lightera and FEC divisions. </li><li>Perform other related duties as required by management. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in relevant technical science; MBA preferred. </li><li>10+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an optical fiber related industry. </li><li>Hands-on experience using lean manufacturing tools. </li><li>Record of success in driving organizational change. </li><li>Demonstrated track record fostering cohesive teams. </li><li>Experience in successful process improvement and project management. </li><li>Demonstrated history of maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment. </li><li>Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach, train and develop others. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Expert knowledge of P&L, budgets, and financial statements. </li></ul> <p>General Expectations:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate effective communications (verbal, written) skills. </li><li>Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel. </li><li>Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information. </li><li>Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures. </li><li>Demonstrate Lightera's "Standards of Conduct". </li></ul> <p>Working at Lightera means having the chance to realize ideas, innovate, and discover new solutions for the future.
