<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>Heart of Missouri Regional Professional Development Center</p> <p>College of Education and Human Development</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>PURPOSE</p> <p>The Language and Literacy Coach supports educators and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in developing and implementing effective instructional methods, assessments, and activities to improve academic performance.</p> <p>EXPECTED OUTCOMES</p> <p>Increase student achievement through evidence-based instructional practices.</p> <p>REPORTING REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Submit required data and activity reports using DESE-designated systems</p> <p>OVERALL PROGRAM ACTIVITIES</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with RPDCs and DESE to support identified districts and schools </li><li>Participate in regular literacy planning meetings </li><li>Assist with statewide data collection and analysis </li><li>Support LEAs in improving student achievement and postsecondary outcomes </li><li>Promote implementation of evidence-based practices </li></ul> <p>TRAINING ACTIVITIES</p> <p>K-5:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver LETRS-aligned training focused on science of reading </li><li>Support instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension </li><li>Provide LETRS training and assist with literacy and reading success plans </li><li>Vet instructional resources as directed </li></ul> <p>6-12:</p> <ul> <li>Provide training aligned with Missouri Read, Lead, Exceed and Aspire initiatives </li><li>Support literacy across content areas and disciplinary practices </li><li>Coach on instructional materials, assessments, and implementation </li><li>Assist with literacy and reading success plans and resource vetting </li></ul> <p>COACHING</p> <ul> <li>Provide coaching to teachers on LETRS/Aspire implementation and science of reading practices </li><li>Support instructional coaches in improving teacher coaching effectiveness </li><li>Assist with intervention planning </li></ul> <p>PLANNING / COLLABORATION</p> <ul> <li>Mentor new coaches and consultants </li></ul> <p>MEETINGS / CONFERENCES</p> <ul> <li>Participate in required virtual meetings, trainings, and statewide sessions at the Direction of DESE </li><li>Attend and actively participate in statewide in-person monthly resource, support and training meetings, as designated by the DESE master calendar and direction from DESE Technical Contact and/or DESE Literacy team. </li><li>Attend and present at conferences as requested </li></ul> <p>TRAVEL</p> <p>Travel within the Heart of Missouri RPDC region on a regular basis and occasionally beyond to support DESE initiatives and required meetings</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Monday-Friday</p> <p>8:00am to 5:00pm</p> <p>12 month appointment. 40 hours per week.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Experience with the science of reading and associated instruction, intervention, and assessment practices.</p> <p>Three (3) years of classroom experience and elementary or secondary content-specific teaching certificate.</p> <p>Must complete or have completed Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) Volume 1 and Volume II Training (this can be completed after hire date and provided by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Seconary Education (DESE) if necessary).</p> <p>Have completed or will complete Aspire Training (this can be completed after hire date and provided by DESE if necesary) as required by DESE.</p> <p>SPECIALIZED SKILLS</p> <p>Communicate complex ideas clearly (oral and written)</p> <p>Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines</p> <p>Build effective working relationships</p> <p>Analyze problems and develop solutions</p> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $57,000 annually, as per grant funding</p> <p>Grade: GGS-010</p> <p>University Title: Senior Program/Project Support Coordinator</p> <p>Internal applicants can determine their University title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.</p> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Cover Letter.
