<p>Overview</p> <p>This is a provisional appointment.</p> <p>Under supervision, performs a variety of ordinary maintenance tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Performs window cleaning, interior and exterior. </li><li>Cleans walls and lavatories. </li><li>Moves furniture; sweeps and mops floors. </li><li>May make adjustments and repairs to toilets, sinks, and drinking fountain mechanisms. </li><li>May change bulbs. </li><li>May paint and perform minor carpentry work. </li><li>Cuts grass and trims bushes; strips, washes, and waxes floors. </li><li>Performs all cleaning duties involved with buildings and grounds, shovels snow. </li><li>Uses floor buffers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, and plow equipment that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). </li><li>Picks up refuse around grounds and performs related work as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Entrance Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Applicants must have knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. </li><li>Must be in good physical condition. </li><li>Must be able to understand and follow simple oral instructions. </li><li>Must be self-motivated. </li><li>Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. </li><li>Massachusetts driver's license preferred. </li></ul> <p>THIS POSITION COULD BE ASSIGNED TO ANY BPD WORK LOCATION.</p> <p>CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REQUIRED.</p> <p>PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND PHYSICAL REQUIRED.</p> <p>BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.</p> <p>Terms:</p> <p>Union/Salary Plan/Grade: AFSCME/RA1-9L</p> <p>Hours per week: 40</p>
