For more information, refer to Required Documents below.</p> <p>VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking a Full-Time Hematology/Oncology Physician.</p> <ul> <li>Keeps abreast of latest trends, skills, procedures, and protocols relevant in the area of specialty and serves as a resource person for the medical center staff </li><li>Develop and maintain expertise in one or more subspecialty areas of Hematology/Oncology - GI and/or lung malignancy preferred </li><li>Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations; establish medical diagnoses and appropriately enter, transcribe, &/or execute orders </li><li>Order and interpret necessary diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms </li><li>Formulate treatment plans and monitor patient progress </li><li>Document patient encounters in a timely fashion </li><li>Promotes, directs, evaluates, and is responsible for the management of safe patient care for patients being treated in the chemotherapy infusion unit including writing orders for administration of blood products and chemotherapy agents </li><li>Responds to requests for consultations and scheduling special tests and studies; communicate and coordinate care among consultants to guide patient care </li><li>Willing to provide Hematology/Oncology care by telehealth </li><li>Attends tumor board(s) as assigned by the Chief of Hematology/Oncology </li><li>Discuss and document advance care planning (end-of-life decision-making) </li><li>Arranges for chemotherapy access procedures and biopsies with Interventional Radiology and Surgery </li><li>Assists, as needed with marrow transplant (BMT) referrals by arranging appropriate clinical work-up, documentation, and transplant application submission to respective VA facility administrative authorities, VACO, and the respective VA BMT facilities </li><li>Discuss proposed procedures, including the attendant risks and potential complications, and obtain the appropriate informed consent from patients; this includes obtaining informed consents for blood transfusions </li></ul> <p>This position is more than 51% Clinical.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.</p> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Incentive available to highly qualified, eligible applicants.</p> <p>Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment):This position is eligible for the EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Contact VHA EDRP Program Support, VHAEDRPProgramSupport@va.gov, the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance. Learn more.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</p> <p>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</p> <p>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.</p>
