<p>Job#: 3025499</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Mechanical Engineer</p> <p>Remote</p> <p>Preference is for the consultant to work out of St. Louis, MO; Detroit, MI; or Atlanta, GA for site visits.</p> <p>The consultant will provide Mechanical Engineering services, including supporting the Sr. Staff Mechanical Engineer working on the hyperscale program within the client's Global Infrastructure team.</p> <p>The scope includes:</p> <p>A) Design of new hyperscale data center buildings</p> <p>B) Supporting operations staff with engineering solutions</p> <p>C) Streamlining construction issue resolution, as detailed below</p> <p>With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements, and serve as a subject matter expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Design:</p> <ul> <li>Review and assist with technical development of mechanical systems (airside and waterside) for hyperscale data centers, including campus planning, layouts/arrangements, CFD and noise modeling, climate data evaluations, hydraulic analyses, pipe sizing, and bin hour analyses. </li><li>Oversee A/E design consultants and provide direction or escalation in accordance with established engineering standards. </li><li>Perform peer reviews of A/E design consultants' deliverables, including drawing sets, specifications, sequences of operations, calculations, and models, and provide comments and resolutions aligned with engineering standards. </li><li>Review and advise on potential value engineering opportunities. </li><li>Analyze system redundancies, failure modes, and single points of failure (SPOFs), working with Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) modelers to verify conformance. </li><li>Develop rapid conceptual sketches using CAD or BIM for visualization and spatial/dimensional validation for internal use (e.g., conveying ideas and streamlining communication). </li><li>Experience with waterless cooling solutions (e.g., air-cooled chillers, dry coolers, adiabatic systems) is preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Construction Support</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with construction, design, and change management partners to compile, prioritize, triage, and process construction-originated engineering issues (e.g., punch lists) for standard design and product improvements. </li><li>When required, develop engineering bulletins and route them through established procedures to ensure broad dissemination of design changes. </li><li>Support continuous standard design improvement processes across product, design, construction, and operations teams. </li><li>Visit construction or operational sites only when needed (not expected unless desired). </li></ul> <p>Engineering and Administration</p> <ul> <li>Operate the Buganizer platform to file and close engineering issues. </li><li>Produce presentations using client-approved presentation software as the primary deliverable format to communicate findings, evaluations, and options to internal stakeholders. </li><li>Demonstrate high proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel and client-approved spreadsheet tools) to perform engineering calculations and tabular evaluations. </li><li>Support manufacturing, delivery, installation, and on-site commissioning activities. </li><li>Interface with cross-functional teams, including Third-Party Data Center Operations, Energy and Land Strategy, and Front-End Planning, to deliver thermal and mechanical solutions. </li><li>Drive technical due diligence and Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) efforts to reinforce standards across all regions, ensuring consistency and successful delivery aligned with client standards. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or a related discipline), or equivalent practical experience. </li><li>5+ years of experience in mission-critical facility design, construction, operation, and commissioning environments. </li><li>5+ years of experience designing and analyzing mechanical distribution systems from chip-to-chiller. </li><li>5+ years of experience performing mechanical system analysis using engineering software tools. </li><li>5+ years of experience with cooling systems, cooling distribution units, and liquid-cooled racks, including sequences of operation and control strategies. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or a Professional Engineering (PE) license. </li><li>Experience preparing technical documentation such as facility review checklists, facility audits, and Statements of Work (SOWs). </li><li>Strong understanding of cross-functional dependencies, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, electrical, and architectural disciplines. </li><li>Ability to travel up to 30%
