<p>Position Title Reference and Instruction Librarian, Student Engagement Department Instructional Project Dev. -Group Pay Type Exempt Appointment Type (A) Continuing Full-Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Number of weeks 52 weeks per year other - # of weeks 52 Benefits Eligible Full Benefits Geographical National Qualifies for Relocation Reimbursement No Work Schedule</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Scope of Duties</p> <p>The Student Engagement Librarian reports to the Director of Research Support & Curricular Technology. The Student Engagement Librarian is part of the Research and Instruction team. All members of the Research and Instruction team share teaching and research consultation responsibilities, and each member serves as the liaison to an academic division. The Student Engagement Librarian is responsible for developing and implementing programs, services, and resources that engage students and enhance their academic experience. This position serves as a key liaison between the library and the student body, fostering connections and promoting the value of library resources and services.</p> <p>General Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Primary Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with campus partners (student organizations, academic departments, etc.) to develop and deliver engaging library-related programming and events. </li><li>Support student retention efforts through collaboration with other offices, such as the Office of the Dean of the College and the Academic Resource Center. </li><li>Provide research assistance to students, helping them effectively utilize the library's collections and services. </li><li>Promote library resources and services through various outreach initiatives. </li><li>Deliver library instruction sessions and workshops to support students' information literacy and research skills. </li><li>Collect and analyze data to assess the needs and preferences of the student population and improve the library's offerings. </li><li>Serve as library liaison to the Student Government Association. </li><li>Serve as the library liaison to several academic departments. Liaisons engage and build relationships with faculty in their assigned departments in order to understand and meet research needs, connect them to services and resources, and inform collections decisions. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop library print and digital instructional materials to support general and subject-specific research and instruction. </li><li>Contribute to the library's social media presence and other digital communication channels to connect with students. </li><li>Contribute to the academic life of the College community through participation in campus-wide events, committees, and work groups. </li><li>Contribute to the library profession through scholarship, participation in professional associations, and other forms of service. </li></ul> <p>Education and Skills</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Library Science or a related field. </li><li>Experience working in an academic library setting, with a focus on student engagement. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse student populations. </li><li>Familiarity with current trends and best practices in library outreach and programming for students. </li><li>Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance library services and student learning. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services and programming. </li></ul> <p>About Library & Information Technology at Connecticut College</p> <p>Library & Information Technology (L&IT) at Connecticut College, combines the best of libraries and technology services into one dynamic team.
