<p>Posting closes on 5/22/2025</p> <p>This position administers the program of inspection of shop fabrication, structural bridge steel, precast concrete products, and physical testing of highway maintenance and construction materials.</p> <p>Examples of Work</p> <p>The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.</p> <ul> <li>Plan projects in advance to ensure arrangements for inspection of fabrication in an efficient manner. </li><li>Supervise inspection of fabrication of structural steel and precast concrete products to ensure compliance with standards and specifications which will require visits to the fabrication and precast facilities. </li><li>Supervise the testing of steel, cement and concrete products used in highway and bridge construction. </li><li>Resolve problems arising from fabrication and testing. </li><li>Verify invoices and approve payments for inspection work by consultants or other highway departments. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>Possession of a current Arkansas license to practice professional engineering. Experience in the inspection, testing and fabrication of concrete and steel products. Three years as Physical Testing Engineer or equivalent experience. Valid driver's license.</p>
