<p>LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>LEOMINSTER ACADEMY/LEOMINSTER CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE</p> <p>Social Studies Teacher (Alternative Education - Leominster Academy [a 9-12 Virtual High School & Leominster Center for Excellence [an in person Credit Recovery program)</p> <p>Leominster Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Social Studies Teacher to join Leominster Academy, our virtual high school program and Leominster Center for Excellence, in our in-person credit recovery program. This unique position involves working with students in both an in-person credit recovery setting and a fully online alternative program, serving diverse learners who thrive outside of the traditional high school model.</p> <p>About the Role:</p> <p>As a Social Studies Teacher in this flexible, student-driven environment, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Teach high school Social Studies courses (e.g., U.S. History, World History, Civics, Economics) in a blended model-supporting both in-person and virtual students. </li><li>Work closely with students who need credit recovery, flexible pacing, and personalized academic support to achieve graduation requirements. </li><li>Facilitate interactive and engaging instruction using Edgenuity and other digital tools to supplement learning. </li><li>Provide individualized academic support, track progress, and guide students through course completion. </li><li>Collaborate with a team of educators and support staff to meet the unique needs of alternative education students. </li><li>Maintain a supportive and structured classroom environment that fosters student success and accountability. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are:</p> <p>We're looking for an educator who:</p> <ul> <li>Is passionate about alternative education and supporting students who need a different approach to learning. </li><li>Has experience with or is willing to learn online learning platforms. </li><li>Can build strong relationships with students and help them stay motivated and on track. </li><li>Understands the challenges of credit recovery and can create targeted interventions to help students succeed. </li><li>Is flexible, adaptable, and willing to innovate in a non-traditional classroom setting. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts DESE certification in Social Studies (8-12) required. </li><li>Experience in alternative education, credit recovery, or virtual learning is a plus. </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills. </li><li>Commitment to student success in a non-traditional learning environment. </li><li>Strong technology skills are preferred. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Us?</p> <ul> <li>Be part of an innovative team helping students achieve their goals in a flexible, student-centered setting. </li><li>Work in a small, supportive school environment with a focus on relationship-building and real-world learning. </li><li>Help shape the future of alternative education in Leominster Public Schools. </li></ul> <p>Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter, and references via Schoolspring.</p>
