Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.</p> <p>Position Details</p> <p>The Department of Nursing in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa has an opening for a non-tenure track instructional faculty position as a Nursing Instructor, starting August 2025.</p> <p>This position is responsible for working with faculty and students in the nursing skills and simulation laboratory (NSSL) and in clinical and/or classroom. Teaching responsibilities consist of twenty-seven (27) credit hours per academic year.</p> <p>The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience in teaching fundamentals, health assessment, pathophysiology and/or medical-surgical nursing. The successful candidate is expected to have a commitment to nursing education. Experience with student evaluation, assessment and mentoring is desired. Faculty have one-day week scheduled for clinical practice if desired. This nine-month position reports to the College Dean and the Director/ Chair of the Department of Nursing.</p> <p>Other responsibilities include:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Of the 27 credit hours required for teaching per academic year, 4-8 credit hours per semester will be in didactic or clinical courses. The remaining teaching credit hours will be fulfilled with clinical simulation-based education responsibilities in the NSSL.</p> </li><li> <p>Work collaboratively with course coordinators and NSSL faculty in developing and providing skills remediation to students.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a resource person for faculty and students in nursing skills acquisition.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in and maintains an on-going evaluation of instructional and simulation materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilizes best practices to engage students in the simulation and debrief process.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in departmental committees and university committees.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as faculty advisor to nursing students.</p> </li></ol> <p>The successful candidate will have:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Minimum of MSN Degree required with license to practice nursing in the state of Florida.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of two (2) years full-time experience in clinical practice as a registered nurse or in an academic setting as a nursing instructor.</p> </li><li> <p>Current unencumbered RN license</p> </li><li> <p>Experience preferred in nursing skills and simulation procedures (face-to-face, hybrid and virtual simulation modalities).</p> </li><li> <p>Multi-media skills include the ability to use computers and various instructional software.</p> </li><li> <p>Earned SSH certification in healthcare simulation education (CHSE) or working towards SSH CHSE certification with a requirement to complete within 24 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>BCLS certification required.</p> </li></ol> <p>Review of applications will begin mid-May for the Fall semester position and continue until filled.</p> <p>Required Attachments</p> <p>All required documents listed below should be uploaded to the attachment box at the bottom of the "My Experience" page of the application before continuing through the application.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Cover Letter</p> </li><li> <p>Resume</p> </li><li> <p>Name and Contact Information of References</p> </li><li> <p>State of Teaching Philosophy</p> </li><li> <p>Copy of Graduate Transcript</p> </li></ol> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
