This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by assisting the Distinctive Collections team with the processing and arranging of physical and digitized materials for the Arnold Wasserman papers.</p> <p>Core Responsibilities:</p> <p>In collaboration with the Collections Archivist, this position will survey, appraise, arrange, rehouse, and describe the papers of Arnold Wasserman, an alumnus of CMU's industrial design program and a pioneer of design thinking and human-centered design. The collection is comprised of administrative files, photographs, slides, and videotapes. Key responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Survey the Arnold Wasserman Papers (50 linear feet) and create a processing plan. </li><li>Appraise, arrange, and rehouse the collection. </li><li>Describe the collection using ArchivesSpace to create and publish a finding aid. </li></ul> <p>Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree, pursuing Masters Degree in relevant course of study. </li><li>Attention to detail, can work independently and collaboratively, are familiar with the function and purpose of archival finding aids, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have legible penmanship. </li><li>Previous hands-on experience working with archival collections (including part-time positions, internships, shadowing an archivist or collection curator, etc.), familiarity with archival standards for preservation, arrangement, and description, & experience using ArchivesSpace software to create finding aids. </li><li>A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Fixed Term: This is a fixed term position with an estimated duration of 6 months. </li><li>This is a part-time (15 hours/week) non-exempt position. </li></ul> <p>Joining the CMU team opens the door to an array of exceptional benefits.</p> <p>Benefits eligible employees enjoy a wide array of benefits including comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous retirement savings program with employer contributions.
