<p>Director of Transportation</p> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Appropriate certifications and training as outlined by the Georgia Department of Transportation </li><li>Effective written and oral communication skills </li><li>Ability to work in and foster a positive work environment </li><li>Minimum high school diploma </li><li>Ability to supervise personnel effectively </li></ul> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides supervision for and continuous program training for bus drivers </li><li>Supervises procedures for systematic bus maintenance and safety inspections </li><li>Investigates all accidents involving system vehicles and determines precaution for prevention of accidents in the future </li><li>Establishes safe and efficient bus routes and pick up and delivery points and procedures </li><li>Assigns bus routes and drivers </li><li>Communicates with county engineers concerning maintenance of safe conditions along bus routes </li><li>Advises Superintendent on road conditions for decisions on school closing during inclement weather </li><li>Develops specifications for new buses, oversees purchasing of new buses </li><li>Assists in developing specifications for new facilities and equipment for the department </li><li>Maintains a positive working relationship with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies </li><li>Assists principals with safety procedures, upon request </li><li>Prepares annual transportation report for the State Department of Transportation </li><li>Supervises the assignment of all field trips </li><li>Recommends qualified applicants as bus drivers and mechanics </li><li>Administers sick and personal leave of all transportation personnel </li><li>Serves as liaison between drivers, parents, students, and school officials on matters concerning transportation </li><li>Evaluates drivers and other transportation personnel </li><li>Coordinates drug screenings for all transportation personnel </li><li>Coordinates health screenings for all transportation personnel (physicals as required by the Georgia Department of Transportation </li><li>Makes budget recommendations concerning area of responsibility </li><li>Monitors compliance with policies and laws concerning transportation </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent </li></ul>
