<p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Six years of continuing job related automobile mechanic experience, and State of Michigan motor vehicle mechanic certification in at least eight certification areas. </li><li>Demonstrated working knowledge of vehicle and engine maintenance and repair, brake and transmission maintenance and repair, and suspension repair. </li><li>Knowledge of trucks, heavy duty equipment and small engine repairs is desirable. </li><li>Ability to repair vehicles and equipment in a professional manner. </li><li>Ability to communicate through the use of email. Ability to work without supervision. </li><li>Ability to perform physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing ladders and lifting in order to perform various vehicle maintenance and repair tasks; frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds to move and use, tools, equipment, and the application of maintenance procedures. </li><li>Valid vehicle operator's license and a driving record acceptable for coverage by the university's insurance carrier. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications All Qualifications</p> <p>Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.</p> <p>Position Details Position Purpose</p> <p>The successful candidate will be responsible for campus-wide mechanics activities.
