<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Lower School Physical Education Teacher Job Description</p> <p>Hamden Hall Country Day School (Hamden, CT), a PS - Grade 12 private school serving 650 students, is seeking a full-time Lower School Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Coach. This position involves developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education curriculum that promotes students' physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and fostering a positive and active learning environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement age-appropriate lessons in partnership with PE co-teacher that cover a range of motor skills, games, and fitness activities for students in PreSchool - Grade 5. </li><li>Create engaging and varied lesson plans to maintain student interest and promote participation. </li><li>Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable participating and learning. </li><li>Provide constructive feedback to students to support their development and encourage improvement. </li><li>Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for others. </li><li>Promote a love for physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. </li><li>Ensure a safe and supervised environment for all PE activities. </li><li>Communicate with parents about their child's progress and participation in PE. </li><li>Stay up-to-date on current best practices in PE instruction and curriculum development. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. </li></ul> <p>Additional duties:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise morning arrival duty daily. </li><li>Attend faculty meetings and other school-related commitments. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or related field </li><li>Experience in lower school physical education or related field </li></ul> <p>To be considered, please submit your current resume and a cover letter to Lorri Carroll, Director of Lower School at lcarroll@hamdenhall.org, detailing your interest and experience for this role.</p> <p>Hamden Hall Country Day School is an equal opportunity employer.</p>
