<p>Instructional Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Assist in facilitating and communicating the mission and vision of the school </li><li>Apply current research, principles, and practices to foster effective teaching and advance curriculum renewal </li><li>Use a variety of strategies to accurately assess student performance and hold teachers to high expectations for all learners </li><li>Promote and model effective use of instructional technologies </li><li>Supervise, evaluate, and support teacher performance using established standards; identify areas for professional growth and facilitate ongoing professional development </li></ul> <p>Organizational Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate clear, direct, and responsive communication skills with administration, staff, and parents </li><li>Create a positive, collaborative climate for teaching and learning </li><li>Facilitate constructive change initiatives using strategic planning techniques that foster systemic, shared decision-making </li></ul> <p>Administration and Management</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Principal with personnel selection, supervision, evaluation, and management </li><li>Apply current knowledge of policy, legal requirements, and fiscal management practices within the scope of assigned responsibilities </li><li>Oversee auxiliary programs (transportation, food services, pupil personnel services, maintenance, and facilities) as needed </li><li>Leverage appropriate technologies to administer responsibilities effectively </li></ul> <p>Student Relations</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a safe environment, uphold student conduct standards, and administer student discipline </li><li>Foster a school climate that promotes student engagement, respect, and shared responsibility for learning </li><li>Demonstrate appreciation for, interest in, and sensitivity to the needs of all students </li><li>Understand and communicate the developmental needs of adolescent learners </li></ul> <p>Equity and Community</p> <ul> <li>Ensure equity among programs and learning opportunities for staff, students, and families </li><li>Demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals </li><li>Assist the Principal in assessing the needs of parents and community members and involving them in school decision-making </li><li>Promote the vision, mission, programs, and services of the school and district </li></ul> <p>Professional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Model ethical behavior, enthusiasm for learning, and respect for self and others </li><li>Exercise decisive leadership in crisis situations </li><li>Performs other duties as required by the Principal, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent of Schools </li><li>Master's Degree in an appropriate discipline or educational administration </li><li>Valid Massachusetts license as Principal/Assistant Principal (5-8) </li><li>Minimum of three years of classroom teaching or instructional support personnel-related experience </li><li>Minimum of three years of school administration and supervision experience </li><li>Demonstrated skills in organizational development, planning, decision-making, and interpersonal and community relations </li></ul>
