If so, then this Retirement Specialist I position at the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS) is for you!</p> <p>The Retirement Specialist I position will help facilitate the day-to-day administration of the Omaha School Employees' Retirement System (OSERS) plan.</p> <p>We are looking for someone that has a passion for helping others, the ability to learn many processes, and the desire to work towards a common goal. This position will help plan members through the retirement process, review retirement paperwork, and calculate retirement benefits.</p> <p>This position also offers great benefits! Here at NPERS, you'll receive 13 paid holidays, have your retirement contributions matched at 156%, and have 79% of your healthcare premiums covered by your employer. We are also a qualifying employer for the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Act.</p> <p>Don't hesitate and apply today!</p> <p>Hiring rate: $17.716 per hour</p> <p>Hiring Range: $17.716 - $26.116</p> <p>Hourly rate may be commensurate with applicant's education and experience within fiscal constraints if approved.</p> <p>Location: 1526 K Street, Suite 400, Lincoln, NE 68508</p> <p>Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.</p> <p>Examples of Work:</p> <ul> <li>Processes applications for retirement and family survivor benefits by evaluating and calculating estimates under applicable statutes. </li><li>Counsels members for pre-and post-retirement planning, retirement benefits and beneficiaries. </li><li>Examines benefit applications for compliance with internal procedures and verifies salary and service information of members with authorized agents of the Nebraska Retirement System. </li><li>Operates word processing equipment to correspond with members. </li><li>Interprets state statutes and laws affecting various retirement plans. </li><li>Conducts research of member records. </li><li>Answers written or oral requests regarding retirement plan rules and regulations. </li><li>Proofreads correspondence to ensure grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors are identified and corrected into compliance with standardized formats. </li><li>Sorts file records materials and documents to facilitate further processing and updating as required by established policies and procedures. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements/ Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications: One or more years of coursework, training and/or experience in office support/secretarial support functions including typing duties and one years experience as a Retirement Specialist Trainee or working in a similar capacity calculating benefits and providing customer service to benefit recipients about retirement plan guidelines.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree; experience processing retirement plan refunds, annuities, and/or other retirement distributions; experience composing and conducting business correspondence and communications.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of office procedures; basic math; English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition for purposes of recognizing and correcting errors in correspondence. </li><li>Skill in typing ability sufficient to type at a rate of 40 words per minute. </li><li>Ability to operate office equipment, communicate effectively, understand and apply instructions, file and retrieve records using an established filing system, proofread and detect errors in a final product, interact with the public and agency staff in a professional manner, and work under pressure. </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <p>We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
