In this position, the DSP will engage in person-centered outcomes, understand individuals' rights, aide with personal care, and enhance the individual's independence by teaching skill development.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED </li><li>Clean Driving Record - Must be able to drive a route </li><li>At least 21 years old </li><li>Reliable transportation </li><li>Good interpersonal communication skills </li><li>Ability to follow oral and written directions and problem solve </li><li>Demonstrate patience, sensitivity, and positive attitude towards persons experiencing severe to profound developmental disabilities </li><li>Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations (accidents, seizures, fire, etc.) </li><li>Light computer skills to include data entry and word processing </li><li>Work requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to push a wheelchair and transfer an individual to and from wheelchair </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist individuals with personal hygiene when needed including: providing bowel and bladder care by checking and changing briefs. </li><li>Monitor and assist with meals and nutritional needs, encouraging individuals to eat as independently as possible, yet assisting as needed.
