These educators create high achieving</p> <p>learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with English as a Second Language (NS)endorsement, TESOL, or Bi-lingual. </li><li>Ability to teach a wide variety of students with many different languages. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, school staff and parents. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provides academic support to students with developing English skills, including students with IEP's </li><li>Acts as an ombudsman to EL students and parents. </li><li>Supports EL students in a co-teaching model, collaborating with general education teachers. </li><li>Communicates with counselors, administrators and parents. </li><li>Develops and implements prescriptive academic plans based on diagnostic testing using SIOP components. </li><li>Advocates and presents issues and programs related to EL in formal and informal contexts. </li><li>Assists students with their general education classes. </li><li>Implements strategies and programs to improve EL students reading, writing and oral language proficiencies. </li></ul> <p>RELEVANT UNDERSTANDINGS AND COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the learner. </li><li>Capable of nurturing the home-school-community relationship. </li><li>Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area, including the components of SIOP </li><li>Able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant learning environment that is child-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management. </li><li>Familiarity with culturally relevant pedagogy and be able to include this pedagogy in his/her teaching practices </li><li>Understanding of pertinent learning intervention practices related to English Learner students through the MTSS process </li><li>Work collaboratively with colleagues in professional learning communities. </li><li>Knowledge of and practical experience in research based instructional practices for English Learners. </li><li>Knowledge and practice with formative and summative assessments to evaluate and improve student achievement </li><li>Ability to implement school district curriculum with consistency. </li><li>Works closely with colleagues and school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction. </li><li>Collaborates in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards. </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.</p> <p>START DATE: August 25, 2025</p> <p>New hires will be required to attend a three-day orientation</p> <p>August 19-21, 2025</p> <p>SALARY: PCEA Salary Schedule</p> <p>METHOD OF APPLICATION:</p> <p>INTERNAL APPLICANTS - Apply online using the Internal Applicants section.
