<p>Impact of the Role</p> <p>The mechanic/equipment technician, under general supervision, conducts preventative maintenance, repairs, and performs fleet and safety inspections on motorized vehicles, diesel engines, small engines, and heavy equipment.</p> <p>COST is a theme construction company that fabricates and manufactures custom creative projects for museums, theme and water parks, aquariums, zoological exhibits, and other unique clients. Check out our work on our website!</p> <p>Shift: M - F; 6:00am - 4:30pm; May vary based on department and company needs.</p> <p>Employment Type: Direct hire; non-exempt</p> <p>What the Role Does</p> <ul> <li>Repair vehicles and equipment to include brakes, diesel and other engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, ignitions, air and exhaust systems, and axle assemblies. </li><li>Inspect, analyze, and determine sources and issues with vehicles and equipment; recommend and/or implement the most cost effective and logical repair or replacement. </li><li>Assist by conducting required tests, certifications, and documentation on all equipment. </li><li>Respond to internal customers who use equipment and vehicles, explaining maintenance and repair plans, triaging reported problems, and scheduling repairs and routine/preventive maintenance. </li><li>Perform metalwork and fabrication on equipment. </li><li>Maintain records of equipment and vehicles, as well as daily service logs. Legibly complete forms. </li><li>Diagnose, dismantle, and perform repairs on tools and machinery. </li></ul> <p>What You Bring</p> <p>Knowledge, Education</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Preferred: Two years of technical auto mechanic training; diesel training preferred as well </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Preferred: 2 years of mechanic experience </li><li>Combined experience and education will be considered </li><li>Mechanical aptitude </li></ul> <p>Skills, Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must demonstrate COST's Core and Leadership Competencies </li><li>Willing to learn through on-the-job training </li><li>Ability to drive a forklift or learn same; welding skills </li><li>Computer skills including MS Office and internet search; able to operate a tablet and scanning tool </li><li>Ability to operate various trucks; light, medium, and heavy equipment and tools; hand tools; automotive lifts; and hydraulic equipment (for purposes of repair and maintenance) </li><li>Significant attention to detail and safety standards, procedures, and practices </li><li>Rapid response, problem identification, and accurate problem solving in emergency repair situations </li><li>Able to prioritize, collaborate, and work well as a team member and independently </li><li>Effective communication skills including verbal, written, reading, and listening </li><li>Able to explain problems/solutions to users </li></ul> <p>Physical</p> <ul> <li>Will regularly walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach above shoulders, and move </li><li>Regularly required to talk and listen; frequent sitting and use hands to handle, type, or feel </li><li>Lift 70 lbs. floor to waist; lift 90 lbs. waist to chest; lift 25 lbs. chest to overhead; carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft.; push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft.; and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft. </li><li>Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus </li></ul> <p>Work Environment/Schedule</p> <ul> <li>Exposed to typical noises and smells associated with the production environment, such as fumes or airborne particles and production machinery. </li><li>Noise level is moderate to loud. </li></ul> <p>The above statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the principle functions of the occupation and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work that may be inherent in the occupation.
