<p>Summary</p> <p>This requisition expires on May 5, 2026, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.</p> <p>Responsible for performing electric distribution line design, including AutoCAD drafting as a primary activity, and assist with all areas of electrical engineering division responsibility. Perform engineering division field surveying and staking tasks.</p> <p>Essential Functions and Other Important Duties</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</p> <p>DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Work directly with internal and external stakeholders to prepare and manage work associated with provision or improvement of electric service. </li><li>Research technically and economically viable options used to prepare designs for extension and modifications to the electric utility distribution system, assemble project documentation and maintain organized files and records. </li><li>Utilize AutoCAD to prepare detailed drawings to support the functions of the Distribution Electrical Engineering division, including but not limited to preparation of details plans for construction of electric facilities, source information for creating drawings that may be rough sketches, engineering notes, project drawings, drawings from developer, catalogs, manufacturer's literature, field gathered data, easement, survey, and verbal instruction. </li><li>Draft detailed plans, construction drawings, topographic profiles, work order layouts, maps, and related drawings to be used in the planning, design, and construction of electric facilities. </li><li>Work with and assist internal stakeholders to complete necessary fieldwork; assist with production of project documents, standards, specification, and other items as required. </li><li>Assist with calculations, drawings, and other items necessary to support electrical and distribution structural design. </li><li>Assist with interpreting and implementing the National Electrical Safety Code and other Federal, State, and/or Local and regulatory codes. </li><li>Assist with developing, documenting, reviewing, and completing all aspects of assigned projects; prepare and maintain files and documentation for identifying the most limiting series elements for the distribution system. </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>None. </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.</p> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS</p> <p>Electric Engineering Tech I</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent; and, </li><li>One (1) year experience in engineering or related field, </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>Electric Engineering Tech II</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent; and, </li><li>Three (3) years' experience in engineering or related field, </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws, codes, and regulations, as well as City of Denton policies and procedures. </li><li>Skill in problem solving; identifying simple-to-moderate problems and reviewing related information to assist with developing solutions. </li><li>Skill at the intermediate level, working with Microsoft Office 365, drafting, and other software systems to complete work. </li><li>Skill in performing mathematical calculations with accuracy. </li><li>Skill in providing exceptional service to internal and external customers. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, for the needs of the audience. </li><li>Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work environment to facilitate/accomplish needed activities. </li><li>Ability to read, interpret, and construct construction drawings, topographic profiles, work order layouts, maps, and related drawings. </li><li>Ability to document all adjustments necessary and approved to complete the project. </li><li>Ability to read, understand, and follow safety protocols and safe work procedures. </li></ul> <p>Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements</p> <p>SAFETY</p> <ul> <li>Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensures equipment is in safe operating condition. </li><li>Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. </li><li>Promptly report unsafe conditions in work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Safe Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes </li><li>Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals, surveying and measuring equipment, shovel, sledgehammer, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting. </li><li>Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, occasional reaching. </li><li>Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds. </li><li>Environment: Work in an office setting and outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold and increment weather, noise, no/low light, insects, poison oak/ivy, debris, odor, and rough terrain; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours. </li><li>Travel: Travel to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required. </li><li>Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
