Programming for young children with special needs and working in a "team" situation. Preference will be given to the candidate who has experience in this job scope and has also worked with young children with special needs and their families.</p> <p>MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Michigan teaching certificate ZA and ZS endorsement required; an additional Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in at least one area of special education. </li><li>Must be endorsed in Early Childhood and Special Education </li><li>Valid Michigan driver's license. </li><li>Reliable transportation to perform home visits. </li></ul> <p>MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Self-direction and ability to work effectively in a variety of settings. </li><li>Special sensitivity to the need for and ability to provide for early education for the families of children with special needs. </li><li>Demonstrate confidentiality, tact, and similar qualities necessary in meeting and dealing effectively with others, not only within the confines of the program but also with parents and community people. </li><li>Develop home programs for children with special needs (0-3 years of age) in all areas of development. </li><li>Ability to make home visits in order to assist families in working effectively with their children with special needs. </li><li>Direct small group opportunities for children with special needs (0-3 years of age) and families in mini-workshops, developmental playroom, and parent groups. </li><li>Support families in seeking and utilizing community resources for their children. </li><li>Assist in on-going evaluation of the effectiveness of programming. </li><li>Assess infants and children with special needs, interpret results, and develop appropriate evaluation reports. </li><li>Develop and coordinate parent group activities. </li><li>Ability to adapt to a variety of curriculum and programs. </li><li>Ability to be flexible in difficult and unique situations. </li><li>Ability to complete IEP, IFSP, and other reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner. </li><li>Ability to use technology for documentation and preparation of professional materials and to assist students. </li></ul> <p>Attachment(s):</p> <ul> <li>TOTE - Early On Special Education - 2024-2025 SY 04-23-2024.pdf </li></ul>
