This position is responsible for delivering high-quality health services to students and staff.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>The School Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive medical support to school-age students and managing a wide range of daily health-related tasks. This role requires the ability to assess student needs, respond to medical situations, and collaborate with school staff and families to ensure student well-being.</p> <p>Specific duties and responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Conducting student hearing and vision screenings </li><li>Educating students on hygiene and safety practices </li><li>Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions </li><li>Verifying vaccination records and maintaining accurate records </li><li>Monitoring student health </li><li>Administering first aid and CPR </li><li>Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises </li><li>Contacting parents/guardians when students are ill or injured </li><li>Collaborating with the athletic department and school administration on student health matters. </li><li>Collaborating with the school health department for regular check ins and compliance at both beginning and end of the school year. </li><li>Working with the school physician to support student athletes' physical exams. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field </li><li>Current NJ license as a Registered Nurse (RN) </li><li>Current CPR certification </li><li>School Nurse certification </li><li>Supervisory or leadership experience in school or community health settings preferred </li><li>Must pass a criminal history background check </li></ul> <p>Compensation & Benefits</p> <ul> <li>$300 per day </li></ul> <p>Skills & Attributes</p> <ul> <li>Strong clinical judgment and health systems knowledge </li><li>Leadership and coordination skills with the ability to manage a multi-campus nursing team </li><li>Familiarity with NJ state immunization laws and school health regulations </li><li>Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities </li><li>Commitment to student wellness and equitable access to healthcare services </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Safety</p> <ul> <li>School-based and administrative responsibilities across campuses </li><li>Must respond promptly to health emergencies and travel between sites as needed </li><li>Exposure to body fluids, medical equipment, and public health risks </li><li>Adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and all district health and safety guidelines </li></ul>
