<p>Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a talented and experienced Editor & Senior Writer to join the Marketing & Communications team on a full-time basis. This is a senior editorial role responsible for leading content strategy and execution across the College's primary owned channels, most notably Gustavus.edu and Gustavus Magazine.</p> <p>The successful candidate will bring a journalist's instinct for storytelling, a marketer's understanding of brand and audience, and a web editor's fluency with digital content management. This individual will generate compelling, on-brand content that reflects campus life, academic achievement, and the broader Gustavus story. Working collaboratively across the Marketing and Communications team, this role ensures editorial output is aligned with institutional priorities and integrated across all media channels.</p> <p>MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Web & Digital Content</p> <ul> <li>Own and manage editorial content for Gustavus.edu, the College's primary marketing platform. </li><li>Upload and maintain news articles, press releases, and general web content using the College's content management system. </li><li>Monitor website user experience and recommend improvements to serve key audience segments effectively. </li><li>Ensure all web content meets accessibility standards. </li></ul> <p>Magazine & Print Publications</p> <ul> <li>Serve as managing editor of The Gustavus Quarterly, overseeing the publication from concept through final production. </li><li>Ideate, assign, write, edit, and proof content; collaborate with designers, photographers, and other creative partners. </li><li>Maintain and evolve editorial themes that reflect the Gustavus brand and institutional priorities. </li></ul> <p>Writing, Editing & Storytelling</p> <ul> <li>Identify and develop compelling feature stories, campus news, and profiles that resonate with prospective students, alumni, donors, and the broader Gustavus community. </li><li>Conduct interviews with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and subject matter experts. </li><li>Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support across the Marketing and Communications team. </li><li>Assess photo, video, and graphic needs to enhance storytelling across both digital and print platforms. </li></ul> <p>Strategy & Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the editorial content calendar for both the website and magazine. </li><li>Partner with the broader Marketing and Communications team to ensure brand consistency and message alignment across all channels. </li><li>Field and assess content requests for web pages and other communications projects. </li><li>Actively contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture built on excellence and accountability. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul>
