<p>Job Title: High School Band Director</p> <p>Department: Curriculum and Instruction</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal</p> <p>FLSA: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Length of Contract: 225 days</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and structure rehearsals that promote learning and growth. </li><li>Plan and professionally execute all performances of the bands. </li><li>Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required. </li><li>Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions to maintain and improve professional competence. </li><li>Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies. </li><li>Perform student supervisory duties </li><li>Select and use appropriate resources. </li><li>Exhibit knowledge of adolescent development. </li><li>Exhibit knowledge of individual students' knowledge, skills, and special needs. </li><li>Adhere to student Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans. </li><li>Respond appropriately to student behavior. </li><li>Demonstrate care and respect when interacting with students, parents and colleagues. </li><li>Manage classroom procedures with limited loss of instructional time. </li><li>Provide timely, consistent, high-quality feedback to students. </li><li>Reflect on practice and make adjustments for professional growth. </li><li>Maintain professionalism with staff members. </li><li>Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse. </li><li>Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies. </li><li>Adhere to all policies of the District. </li><li>Willingness to work outside the school day for rehearsals, competitions, and performances. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties: as assigned by building principal</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.</p> <p>Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.</p> <p>Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.</p> <p>Ability to deal with others in an antagonistic situation.</p> <p>Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.</p> <p>Ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards.</p> <p>Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.</p> <p>Ability to act calmly under stress and strain, and of not being hasty or impetuous.</p> <p>Ability to effectively present information publicly.</p> <p>Exhibiting regular attendance in order to perform duties in a satisfactory manner.</p> <p>Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree Required; Arkansas Licensure or enrollment in an Alternate Pathway to Licensure</p> <p>Other Expectations: Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.</p> <p>Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, other staff members, and the general public.</p>
