<p>Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean and the Humanities Dept. Chair, the Adjunct Instructor is responsible for instructing students in various courses, including Beginning German I and II, Second Year German I and II and Accelerated Second Year German. The instructor is responsible for creating course-content related materials designed to achieve identified course objectives and outcomes, utilizing various teaching strategies - including Engaged Learning practices, and monitoring and evaluating student progress, maintaining accurate student records using the required LMS grade book, communicating with students, etc. Teaching formats may include one or all of the following: face-to-face, hybrid, online and/or distance-learning.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Promote a Culture of Belonging</p> <p>Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.</p> <p>Marginal Functions</p> <ul> <li>May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required. </li><li>Perform other College functions and duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone. </li><li>Ability to use basic computer skills. </li><li>The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in German or a related field (i.e., Modern Languages & Literatures), with at least 18 graduate hours in German. </li><li>Teaching experience equivalent to at least 18 semester hours, or 6 courses/sections, at the secondary or post-secondary level that applies directly to area(s) of instructional responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching online and/or hybrid formats. </li><li>Experience using fiber or Life Size technology to teach classes remotely (i.e. distance learning). </li><li>Familiarity with Engaged Learning practices. </li><li>Graduate coursework directly related to courses that will be taught. </li></ul> <p>Salary</p> <p>TBD</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>Part-time temporary employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College.</p> <p>Schedule</p> <p>This is a part-time temporary position with assignments based on program needs.</p>
