<p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>Reporting to the Project manager of WEI with responsibility to Dean, Student Development (or designee), the WEI Student Success Coach provides comprehensive services for prospective and current students from recruitment through completion and transfer. Aligned with grant funding requirements, and the current Strategic Enrollment Plan for South Suburban College, coaches play a critical role in the implementation of relevant student development and student services to increase retention rates, course completion rates and/or workforce entry.</p> <p>This position provides services to SSC students, and manages and provides intensive services to a caseload of students associated with the Workforce Empowerment Initiative (WEI) program through all aspects of the student experience including, but not limited to; admission, registration, attendance, course progression, financial aid, fiscal support, career exploration, academic support, orientation, course access, and completion. The WEI Student Success Coach maintains orderly and precise student records, and engages in ongoing assessment efforts.</p> <ul> <li>Provide a point of contact for services, including onboarding and orientation support, monitoring academic progress and attendance, </li><li>Assist students facing academic, personal, or financial challenges, using case management principles of advocacy, assessment, and service facilitation. </li><li>Connect students with tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and other campus services and collaborate with faculty and staff to promote student retention and success </li><li>Conduct outreach to at-risk students and maintain accurate case notes and student records </li><li>Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote student retention and success </li><li>Identify the appropriate educational and career options, </li><li>Assist with the analysis of each option, including possible outcomes and their implications; establish academic and career goals, and establish an action plan for students to explore alternative careers and related program adjacency (Onboarding) </li><li>Develop intervention plans to support student goals and provide the best opportunity for retention and completion (Onboarding/Retention) </li><li>Teach students the skills to self-navigate to degree completion utilizing campus information, student on-line system, and campus resourcesincluding college guidelines, catalogs and on-line resources, and resources provided through the state-wide networks (Recruitment/Onboarding) </li><li>Deliver services individually or in group settings, by appointment or via walk-in, and through both in-person and virtual delivery. Respond to students within a reasonable timeline set by the project (Onboarding/retention) </li><li>Meet with other areas of the College to determine best support options for students based on individual student needs. Closely collaborate with all areas on campus to provide the resources necessary for student success, eliminate student runaround, and streamline communication for caseload (Retention) </li><li>Work with academic and career advisors to determine to determine degree progression, readiness for degree completion and alert students to next steps toward completion (Completion) </li><li>Provide regular reports regarding the status of caseload including, but not limited to semester-to-semester persistence and progress toward degree/certificate completion (Retention) </li><li>Develop, implement and assess regular workshops, events, and other activities that are consistent with college and career success. (Retention) </li><li>Provide regular and comprehensive support for the Division of Student & Enrollment Services by participating in college committee work or student events as recommended and approved by supervisor including but not limited to the WEI related Advisory Committees and Program Advisory Boards (Retention) </li><li>Perform other professional duties to assist with the efficient operation of the College & Career Success Center and/or consistent with the role of the position </li><li>A bachelor's degree in related field </li><li>Two years of experience in an educational setting. </li><li>Experience working with both traditional-aged students and adults in a higher education setting preferred; </li><li>Proficient operating knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office and integrated advisement services, including databases and reporting systems. . </li><li>Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Experience with Ellucian/Colleague and D2L is a plus. </li><li>Successfully pass a criminal background check. </li></ul> <p>STATUS/SALARY:</p> <p>This position is a full-time grant funded position working 12 months, 40 hours per week. Schedule includes weekends and evenings and is currently funded through September 30, 2026.The annual salary is $47,000 plus the following employee benefits:</p> <ul> <li>$15,600 Flexible Health Benefit: </li><li>15 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment </li><li>16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek </li></ul> <p>ANTICIPATED START DATE: April 13, 2026</p> <p>APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 16, 2026</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Submit letter of application, resumes, and transcripts to ssc.edu/jobs</p>
